Stakes as indicated here is also an indictment of the health of horse racing in a country.

These stats are actually very revealing and is a perfect barometer of the state of racing in each of the identified jurisdictions.

It's also noteworthy that Japan and Hong Kong is the most transparent as far as racing information is concerned and the sport is properly policed with serious bans and fines to transgressors.

The bottom line to better stakes is a properly functioning tote and making the customer king.

Thanks Mac, a real eye opener.

I follow American racing alot.

Maiden Special Weight Races at the big tracks during their big meets like Churchill Downs, Saratoga, Keeneland, Belmont is reaching $100 000. In fact Kentucky Downs a turf only course will offer in the region for those type of races. All the big trainers will move from big meet to big meet to get all the best purses available with local based trainers also trying to get a slice. American racing cater for all type of horses from average to excellent at different tracks and states with state bred incentives. Some tracks are now offering fixed odds betting and many states offer sport.

Japan has just passed a law to have Casino gambling legal. MGM has won the bid to be the partner in Japan with other big Japanese conglomerates like Panasonic.

Hong Kong have no other gambling. I have read Macau makes more money than Las Vegas.

Australia is some how doing well with all types of gambling.

I am just thinking of the top of my head before I do the school run and before our power goes off for another 4.5 hr stint

JAPAN vs SA

Japan has probably twice our population and its a third of our size with little mineral wealth.

The unemployment is close to zero as opposed to 40% here

You tell me what the difference is ?

How long would Japan last under the ANC government 🤔 😪

Can you imagine if we adopted a policy where Hari Kari was the honorable thing to do.

Our sword and knife manufacturers would be thriving........

OK the guy is more a food critic than a punter but the track looks an experience.
