The German trial of Markus Jooste, former CEO of scandal-ridden retailer Steinhoff, is stayed on the first hearing day after he was unable to leave his home country South Africa

German prosecutors have applied for an arrest warrant against Markus Jooste after he failed to show up for his criminal trial in Germany. The Hawks, the Reserve Bank and the Financial Sector Conduct Authority have all denied holding his travel documents

Markus Jooste did not pitch up in the Oldenburg regional court for his Steinhoff looting trial due to his “missing passport”🤣🤣
