Absolutely ludicrous that the CEO of a sinking ship is allowed by the board of directors of the sinking ship to take on a side hussle that has absolutely nothing to do with its core business. While Rome is burning, let's rome. And this is why horse racing is in trouble in 4Q land. Unless Fundi is on her way out or she is hedging her bets to go bacj to a SOE.

Fundi has been successful in the aviation industry, so why is it an issue that she takes a role on this board?

This is an interim appointment to an SOE and board members are there to rubber stamp what their political masters decide. That's how SOE are run from the respective ministries who have their own agendas.

Any non-exec director of a SOE that believes he/she has been called up because of their skill and expertise to charter a new path for the SOE, clearly is mistaken, lack the understanding of the rules of engagement, and have not watched long running series of 20+ years of state capture.

Squirrel appoints ministers to serve him and his party's agenda. Toe the line or else.

Ministers appoint directors of the board to serve the ministry, Squirrel, the governing party and their chosen business partners. Toe the line.....

Non-exec diectors have SFA to do with the daily operation of the business of a SOE other than rubber stamping the will of the political masters - the only prize for grandstanding is a one-way ticket.

@Bob, in my opinion, the commercial and operational business of an airline transporting passengers and cargo are so vastly different to that of an airport management company that operates a retail mall and taxes every aircraft and passenger, there is little to no benefit to SAA to employ an ex-employee of ACSA on the grounds that they have industry experience. Equally a Air traffic controller that worked for ATNS can add little to no value to the board of directors of SAA or ACSA . Just saying.

Basically Fundi is the right demographic and gender!!
