I don't think that van Niekerk is 100% yet after his injury layoff.
Great grass gallop by Kommetdieding. He has been syndicated for stud (to stand at Klawervlei) and similar to the deal done a few years ago for What a Winter, the breeders syndicate will participate in the balance of his racing career. I've taken a share.
I think that the Queens Plate and Met will be between him and Jet Dark.

can anyone in their right mind tell me how KOMMETDIEDING..... was TOTE FAV & BOOKIES FAV. over 1200m ???????? way. way, way too short for this horse.
but a very nice come on run it was !
good horses can do that e.g Elevation won the Germiston Cup (1000 M) a month before he won the Holiday Inns (summer cup) the 2nd and 3rdtime - started fav the 2nd time - after 3rd H I win went for the Met and ran second like El Picha

There have been quite a few top horses that won over sprints prior and features thereafter. Flaming Rock won the Diadem Stakes twice over 1200m. Empress Club broke the course record at Durbanville over 1000m beating Grade 1 winners Marie Galante and Taban.
Key Of Destiny deserves a mention. Won the KZN Derby and later won the Grade 1 Sprint at Scotsville.
guys, I'm not arguing that GREAT horses can win over sprint distances....... but i don't think he should have ended up the TOTE FAV. & BOOKIES FAV over this distance.
Obviously the bookies weren't taking any chances..... but in the end.... the bookies banked all the " geld " ...... clever guys they are.
