Interesting. Can see me having a bet because the race itself is long compared to greyhound racing. No jockeys needed :)

That was very interesting and discplned.
I have often watched greyhounds over the hurdles but these hounds were able to map around the track by missing hurdles then jumping the last few.
Fascinating

.....although I am not an advocate of using dogs for racing due to the tendency of high injuries and sometimes cruelty endured in trying to condition them to be ultra completive......I am really onboard with this quaint display....as those dogs seemed to be really enjoying themselves.

Judging from the breeds and the discipline displayed they seem to be a variety of "fox hounds" beagles and crosses of this breed and actual foxhound both American and English....and this form of racing is known as Hound trailing

Hound trailing is a race between hounds along an artificially laid scent trail. The sport is a combination of drag hunting, dog racing and steeplechasing, with the hounds taking the place of horses. The hounds follow a man-laid scent, the scent trail being usually laid by dragging a piece of fabric, slightly soaked with a combination of aniseed and paraffin oil, along the course.

That commentator got away with it at the end.
Imagine Sheldon or Ali saying.........it's the " black and white bitch " that's going to win the race.:P
