.....stayed in front most of the day with some decent longshot place bets and small swingers and odd small % trifectas in the early races....also played a PA which is very rare for me....a 20%er for just over 100 bucks and in the July small swingers places with my dogs and singled out 3 horses in the parade ring Sparking Water(based on the exuberant and confident jock) Do It again(looks) and Safe Passage(pedigree).....and boxed them for the max left over balance in swingers(which I sort of regret not leaving something for the 8th race where my intended swinger play paid 3 times more)....not being one to normally banker or go thin on the hotshots....and after the big banker goodie missed the places in the 8th my PA was now 1.6 times with 4 horses in the last....my P6 had 5 horses(went out in 1 earlier leg) the 5th horse was Sheela(not in my PA).....and I take her with the 4 horses in my PA for swingers and land up with absolutely squat(why not a place bet for cover)..... the remainder of the rather belated July swinger winnings go into a JP with Warrior banker and float Warrior in trifectas ..... ....game over.... good night nurse....:S

.....even worse....just checked the last race results(never watched the race)....my top 4 ran into the1st 3 and the swingers were huge....

This years time >135 sec vs 133 last year vs132 the year before. I know conditions not comparable year on year but pace is trending poorly

.....if we want to slow horses down then why not equip them with mandatory shin guards and brushing boots because to try prevent horses from striding out is not natural.... as we have genetically fine tuned them to run at full stride.... and breed and buy them just to do that....want slow robust horses then introduce warmbloods to racing in group company ......because Ive seen Hanoverians move a lot faster.....

Why do we bother with jockeys?

.....jokes aside.... as it would not be much of a "sport" without jockeys...but find it rather un sporting for jockeys to be told not to ride their mounts at a decent stride..... ....and because no one wants to sacrifice their horse to give any advantage to any other.... just strangle it instead....:S

One of the reasons I liked how Yard-Arm and Variety Club ran...they seem to know that the horse had the ability to do 1600m in 95/96 sec, 2000m in about 2 min (especially in the case of Yard-Arm) and they ran it accordingly and if some-one wanted to beat them, they would need to be faster...and so often they couldn't...

Even the mare Jamaica was ridden in the same way...

.....100% correct....yet it was known that if you went up to try challenge Jamaica she would kick on....she was beaten in the Cape by Winter Solstice when Glenn Hatt was told to time his run and not try "eyeball" her.....a similar tactic was tried by the same connections later in the Met and not make any pace for Tyson....and another Met winning "miler" named Alistor @50/1 trounced them ....:S
