4Racing decoder to watch programs on 54.9E satelite.
3 years 1 day ago
Have had an encounter with 4Racing and am just gonna pass it on.
The 4Racing pictures are available on channel 240 of DSTV, which I cannot get due to trees.
The pictures are also transmitted on a satellite known as Yamal 502 - which lives in the sky at a location of 54.9East, just a little bit away from the regular DSVTV satellite at 68.5E.
The frequencies on 54.9E are 10984 V 9100, where 3 programs appear to broadcast, namely
GallopTV1 (Gold Circle)
GallopTv2 (Unnamed)
GR1 (4Racing)
The pictures on 54.9E are encrypted, and you need to purchase a decoder to receive them properly.
I have been communicating with the call centre of 4Racing, and they have politely/timeously explained that the decoders are only being made available to betting outlets.
I am willing to pay the R2k for the decoder etc, but either the content is different to DSTV, or maybe they have no supply etc.
I have asked for the contact details of the CEO to pursue my case but they won't provide them, thou I see she is on Linkedin.
I don't understand how selling decoders to a user-base can be prohibited, but am not gonna argue any further.
Mark me as another one lost to change.

I should also add they mentioned I could watch the picture on stream - but am not prepared to put up with a 30-odd sec delay to live.
Quite why the streams have such a big lag is another question - but it can wait.

......the decoder and streams that they refer to are those of the "free gift box" or Crenova Decoder and were tailor made back in Rob Scotts tenure at Tellytrack......I would not recommend splashing out any money for this option as if you have problems with DSTV satellite reception you will have bigger problems with the Crenova decoder as its dish is only marginally
offset in a North easterly direction and is much weaker and affected by the slightest bit of incremental weather.....during even light rainstorms signal is lost.....and also more often than not the 4Q 240 channel freezes for hours on end during morning and late evenings......

Hi,
Thx for the messages and the reply..
My gap in the trees is big enough to get a strong signal on 54.9E - 12DB for those technically minded, which is about 30% over the required signal strength.
Am hopeful a betting operator will supply me with one.
Will update etc.
