Not sure what Bling was thinking there?
If he had won by 10 lengths guess it would have been a great ride 🤔
Really faded at the end - looks like he got the pace wrong - still the winner would have been beaten 5 lengths by the 3rd race winner - so not a great field to say the least
After being encouraged forward, QUEST FROM AFAR (S Khumalo) raced significantly clear of the field and tired in the concluding stages.
Trainer A Azzie and Jockey S Khumalo were questioned regarding the change of tactics adopted on this filly. Jockey Khumalo explained that as the start was effected, he slapped her down the shoulder with his crop and encouraged her forward as it was his intention to race from the front as per the instructions given to him by Trainer A Azzie which were confirmed by the Trainer. Trainer Azzie further explained that in this filly’s run on the 23rd of April, she had over-raced and because of this, he had advised Jockey Khumalo not to fight her and allow her to stride freely in front. Trainer Azzie further added that he was of the opinion that this filly would be too good for this field and that by adopting strong front running tactics and establishing a substantial lead, the field would be unable to make up the ground on her. However, in the concluding stages, QUEST FROM AFAR had lost her action and had tired badly. The evidence presented by both Trainer and Jockey was corroborated by the patrol film. It was also noted by the Stipendiary Board that on a line of form through COUNTRY FLAME, it appeared as though QUEST FROM AFAR had run to a similar level of form as her run on the 23rd of April 2022.
Jockey Khumalo was advised nevertheless, to ensure that wherever circumstances permit, to ride his mounts in a fashion to ensure that they are competitive and close their races off strongly.
Looks like an overrated horse ...but the stipes would have ridden a different race.... I don't like her but the bookies love her.
