Milczarek becomes Centre ambassador

Kirsty Milczarek has become an ambassador for Greatwood Rescue Centre in Marlborough

NEWS from two of Britain's racehorse welfare centres is that the pioneering Thoroughbred Rehabilitation Centre in Lancashire is opening its doors to the public for the last time this year on October 18 and 19, and leading girl jockey Kirsty Milczarek has become an ambassador for Greatwood Rescue Centre in Marlborough.

The TRC, at Whinney Hill, Halton, near Lancaster, decided to open on eight occasions between May and October this year, rather than staging one major summer event.

Two chances are left to see at close quarters the horses and the work of the staff. Founder Carrie Humble will host the tours and a Q&A session.

Gates open at 10.30am, half an hour before the tour starts. Events end at 1pm.

Tickets, costing £10 to include refreshments, must be purchased in advance by calling 01524 812649. No dogs are allowed on the yard, and the events are not suitable for very young children.
Further information online at thoroughbredrehabilitationcentre.co.uk.

Kirsty Milczarek will be writing regularly in the Greatwood newsletter and providing a blog when the new website is up and running, as well as visiting the centre as often as she can.

She said: “I'm proud to be associated with Greatwood. It's one of the most respected and longstanding ex-racehorse charities and their Horse Power programme for special-needs children is awe inspiring.”

Helen Yeadon, who founded the centre with husband Michael, said: “Kirsty has been hugely successful as a show jumper and in race-riding, and as an excellent, all-round horsewoman she really understands the work we do here.

He won on Never Say Die, Crepello, St Paddy, Sir Ivor, Nijinsky, Roberto, Empery, The Minstrel and Teenoso.

I would guess its The Minstrel, as I am sure it was Sangsters?

Sure someone can confirm, but a superb painting.
