RA's Trilogy horses for sale

2 of the RA's Trilogy fillies, Seat of Power (13 runs, 4 wins, 2 places) and Shiyabekhala (5 runs, 0 wins, 2 places), who cost R350 000 and R375 000 respectively at the 2006 National Yearling sales, to be auctioned on Sunday, 5 October at Turfontein after the last race.
Any ideas why ? No info on RA website, saw it on Tellytrack and Computaform.

Elvis, not the ideal time/market to sell, so the timing is interesting.
Not sure if the fillies are to be raced or heading for paddock.

See in Computaform, "Attention ... All Breeders.

If i had to hazard a guess ;

Seat of Power will probably end up at Klawervlei for about 150k while poor ol' Shiyabekhala might induce a 50k 'loyalty' bid from somewhere.

anybody know where the cookie jar is. i could have sworn it was there 10 mins ago. perhaps the person with their fingers caught in it can return it as soon as possible, minus the cookies of course. we need something to store the gravy in.

Just an update on the Trilogy Horses.

My bro was also one of those unlucky investors that was caught like a fish. He made nothing in the end. I am told that Seat of Power and Shiyabakala have been beset with problems and are being auctioned off.

Time and Love might be going to PE.

Maybe some answers here:-

Former SACP stalwart Jabu Molekethi claims that 'the ANC ignored principles of revolutionary morality, fairness & jusitce...without any due process being followed' in recalling Mbeki. What duplicity!
Cde Molekethi, can you tell us, whilst you were MEC, Finace in Gauteng-
HORESRACING- PHUMELELA:
1. Why did you over-rule the Gauteng Gambling Board's decision not to 'corporatise' (privatize) the Sect. 21 horseracing industry into Phumelela?
2. Why did you not ensure that an amount of R14-million from the Horseracing Development Fund did not go to the (black) grooms?
3. Why did you not investigate when this money was used by Phumelela/Racing Association to boost their own profits and enriching a handful of blacks?
4. Why did you persist in taking assets that belonged to the people (valuable race and training tracks at Germiston & Newmarket) & hand it on a plate to white elitists who have made millions by now disposing of these?
5. Why did you say that it was 'government policy to privatise' yet, in the next breath you took Province into partnership with a private IT firm (Capstan, I think)?
Strange that a white in the industry observed 'What sort of a Communist is the Minister; he is worse than a capitalist!'
CASINO LICENCES
1. Why did you 'instruct' the Gambling Board ....?
2. Why did you give a deaf ear to the allegations ....?

CDE JABU: DID YOU FOLLOW DUE PROCESS DURING YOUR TENURE AS FINANCE MEC? YOU LET US DOWN TERRIBLY ......AT THE TIME BECAUSE YOU WERE ON THE HIGH HORSE!

I see that the RA's CEO and Phumelela's commentator C. Basel is now moonlighting as an auctioneer. He is auctioning the 2 horses.

Mike de Kocks website has the following insert about C. Basel when he was appointed the General manager of the RA:-

"He started Basel Bloodstock a few years later, at around the time making his first appearance on racing TV IGN, and has not looked back.Basel will continue to commentate and make regular appearances on Tellytrack, but has given up his interests in the bloodstock company in order to focus up on his new job.“This is a huge challenge but I’m ready for it,” he said."

Just so you know, Basel Bloodstock included the services of auctioneering horses by C. Basel.

AND the RA has the following article on its website when C. Basel became CEO this year:-

"The newly elected RA board took the decision to elevate Basel’s job description and his responsibilities at its first formal meeting on January 21. He has been general manager for less than a year and has impressed many in the racing world with his energy and wealth of new ideas.
His main responsibilities under the new title include developing and implementing high-level strategies, managing the overall operations and acting as the main point of communication between the board of directors and his staff and members of the RA.
“I am delighted and will continue to give of my best,” said Basel.
“The job is demanding but I love every minute of it. There is so much going on with many of our members getting actively involved and wanting to make a positive contribution. We also did a recent survey in the Elevation Room among members who come racing every Saturday and the positive response gives me much satisfaction.”
RA chairman Larry Weinstein said: “We believe Clyde has done an excellent job so far, we also believe that the number of his responsibilities are beyond those of a General Manager and the board was unanimous in promoting his title to that of CEO.”

When you can commentate and take time to auction horses it really shows how demanding the job of a CEO can be.
