The Western Cape’s Sizzling Summer Season is hotting up with a further feature being the ‘Triple Crown’ for Stayers, kindly sponsored by the Western Cape Bookmaker’s Association.
The series will be competed over the R125 000 Listed Durbanville Cup run over 3200m on 30 November 2008, the R200 000 Grade 3 WCBA Cape Summer Stayers Handicap run over 2500m on 27 December 2008 and culminates in a thriller on J&B Met day with the running of the R300 000 Grade 2 J&B Reserve Stayers over 2800m.
A handsome R250 000 cash bonus is being offered to the connections of a horse that is able to win all three of the aforementioned races in the same season A points series will also be run over the three marathon events with points being allocated as follows to the top three finishers in each event:
First place: 6 points
Second place: 4 points
Third place: 2 points
After the running of the third and final leg of the competition the winning Owner of the horse who accumulates the most points will receive a R30 000 betting voucher, with the second place Owner receiving a R15 000 betting voucher and the third place Owner receiving a R5 000 betting voucher.
In addition, the Trainer of the horse which accumulates the most points over the three races will receive a R5 000 betting voucher.
The Jockey of the winning horse will receive a cash prize of R5 000. However, if there is more than one jockey over the three legs the monies will be divided accordingly.
The Groom of the winning horse will receive a cash prize of R1 000.
