R7, really believe Service Ace (5/1) can win this. Has a turn-around at the weights with both Pomodoro's Jet (22/10) and Van Hunks (5/2) and has a merit rating reduction. Must be the value.
Guessing has never been widely acclaimed as a good gambling strategy.

Don Reposado

Distance: 1000m

Comments: He looks to have his have his work cut out on current form.

Country Time

Distance: 1000m

Comments: We will have to watch the betting on the first timers, but she has come on and should have each way claims.

Golden Hostess

Distance: 1000m

Comments: Not expecting much on debut. Staying type.

Silver Queen

Distance: 1000m

Comments: Well bred filly and although not wound up for her run, she could well run a decent race first time out.

Charles Dickens

Distance: 1000m

Comments: A smart full brother to Charles. He shows us a lot at home and will have a very good each way chance.

Las Vegas Nevada

Distance: 1000m

Comments: He shows some speed at home and should run a fair race , but should need the experience pf a few runs before he is ready to win.

Tchaikovsky

Distance: 1400m

Comments: Ready to win now and from a one draw will have a big winning chance here.

Raising Quinn

Distance: 1600m

Comments: Stable elect from our trio. Her last run was encouraging when running on strongly, so must have a big chance here.

Just Power

Distance: 1600m

Comments: Another one of ours that could be running on into the money but she does prefer further and needs to improve to do so.

Costa Smeralda

Distance: 1600m

Comments: She showed improvement her last start and on a repeat of that run, she could find the frame. Quartet inclusion.

Millahue

Distance: 1600m

Comments; Fair form since his maiden win, but finds himself with some extra to find to be a threat in a competitive field. Include in larger perms.

Dragon Fly

Distance: 1200m

Comments: He carries top weight in a trip short of his best, but its not the strongest field and if he doesn’t leave himself with too much ground to make up at the death, he can win a race like this.

Benjamin

Distance: 1200m

Comments: Having his first run back after a long rest, top weight to shoulder. Will come on from this run.

Sky God

Distance: 1200m

Comments: Returns off a lengthy break, and should need this run back, but shouldn’t be too far off them running fresh.

Ovation

Distance: 1200m

Comments: He needs to be respected after a very encouraging run at Durbanville last time out. Include in all bets.

This is a merit ratings band type conditions race. If you are in a certain bracket of rating you allocated a set weight. Some horses are under sufferance with the top rated horses if it was a handicap race. Veronica Mars is best in weights due to a sex allowance of 2.5kgs. On that it should go close.

Mossel if Pomodoro's Jet was A GOOD ONE, i would have thought he would have better stats. than 1 win in 5 starts !

Trainer Snaith did say on MET day that STEINBECK was one horse he had expected to break his maiden much sooner.... he ran 2nd again MET Day then WON next time out.... after gelding.

STEINBECK has his win under the belt now, & i think he can follow up... He is in R7, horse 7, drawn 7.
Grant rides again........... i've taken a bit of e/way 9/1 and 16/10 place.

break a leg guys.

2 Don Reposado 12.50 10.00 7.14

Some punters either take no notice of the trainers comments or some know more than the trainer.

2 Ciao Bella 1.43 1.25 1.00 0.91 1.00 1.11 1.25 1.33 1.43 1.52 1.67 1.82 2.00

11 Turn The Page 6.25 7.14 6.25 6.67 7.14 8.33 6.25 5.56 5.00 4.00

Wonder who had a go at the stable mate?
Surely it wasn't the trainer and connections as they must have known how much better Ciao Bella was on the training tracks.

A tricky card. However for the pick 6 at least can banker Jayrani, the only raced runner, irrespective of where he finishes.
Race 4 Sudden Song has fair form for the previous yard but comes off a few months rest and the stable jockey is on Robert Burns. Not much between Tchaikovsky and Masterful Guy and both have good draws and top jockeys. Al Bugatti tough draw but not out of it. The Heat is On is well in with the sex allowance but a very wide draw. The lightly raced Faire Advantage, Geopolitical and Global Movement all have scope for improvement. Masterful Guy looks the value ew play at 9/2.
Race 5 Veronica Mars comes back from a 3 month break, but if fit can make the boys run at the weights. Captain Tatters won easily in PE but this is stronger. Captain of Stealth is classy but comes off a very long break. Azores wants further. Hyde Park is fit and distance suited and he may be the right one here. Seventh Gear also in with a shout.
Race 6 A competitive handicap. Academic Gold good run after a year's break, and a repeat of that effort should be enough to win here. Raising Quin and Ntinga look the main dangers.
Race 7 Another very closely handicappped affair. The penny seems to have dropped for Steinbeck and although he is probably looking for further he looks ew value at 10/1
Race 8 The lightly raced Queenswood looks to have scope for improvement and is my selection, but another tough race.
