JOCKEY ATHANDIWE MGUDLWA
The National Horseracing Authority confirms that at an Inquiry held in Durban on 25 February 2022, Jockey Athandiwe Mgudlwa was charged with a contravention of Rule 62.2.7. The particulars being that whilst riding REEF BOUND, he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to DEATH BLOW (*R Venniker) at the 1100m in Race 2 at Hollywoodbets Greyville Racecourse on 26 January 2022.
Jockey Mgudlwa pleaded not guilty, but was found guilty as charged.
The Inquiry Board after considering the evidence and mitigating factors, imposed a penalty of a suspension from riding in races for a period of 7 days.
Jockey Mgudlwa has the Right of Appeal against the finding and penalty imposed.
