Most bookmakers lay more than that with bigot bets. The open bet is a killer, but I suppose atleast they manage their money and give some back for sponsorship to keep racing going as our management is so useless.

The problem is the totes are crap, it stinks in the premises, the service is crap and if you wanna go for a piss you must pay a Bob or 2 for what. Myself will rather go to my bookie where I can sit comfortably drink a beer if I wish have excellent service that's why the tote system is failing. They think they doing everyone a favour just like our government. They will fail its just s question of when

To be fair the pool was above 200k on Saturday - but I agree it is a worrying trend

Tab Online. Now round live tickets up to a full unit.

Distorting to accuracy of the data they supply to the punter.

showing 6 tickets on P6 99K minimum. Pool 580k actual tickets 5.71 or such.

not great

I remember when still a student between 1995 and 2000 that a night racing Newmarket meeting, the PA sometimes got close to a million bucks.
Some Turffontein Saturday meetings over a million.

Pools have been showing a steady decline but many factors have contributed to this, all very much known to all of you and should not come as a huge surprise.

The evidence is overwhelming that racing needs to refresh the product offering to attract new customers along with a number of things to improve service delivery to existing customers of racing.

4Racing realise the importance of delivering a superior product all round and I have no doubt that important improvements are coming.

Its no pleasure to see racing suffering the pains of years of neglect especially in light of the commitment of the new owners to racing. So many in the industry have fallen on hard times and i feel for everyone hanging in there in these very challenging times for the sport.

Pool betting is a wonderful concept in theory and with a few additions and tweaks will deliver the betting experience that punters want and deserve.

The possibilities that this format offers are nowhere near fully exploited and what can be done will surprise even the most experienced punter.

Pools and dividends can and will get much bigger and more attractive with the right formats in future.
