UK RACING TUESDAY.
16 years 8 months ago
Good morning to the CLAN and will be difficult to top my 6 from 6 yesterday.
Beverley I only like Hunterview
Folkestone, racing looks good and I fancy a treble, Anne of Kiev, Effort and Howdigo
The jumps at Sedgefield looks difficult, but it must be an omen that McCoy is ridding Supreme Being.
good punting!

BEVERLEY,

Grounds For Concern
Jamie Spencer admits to worries that the gruelling conditions may make the opening 5f novice event (2.00) too much of a test of stamina for Glamorous Spirit on her first run since Royal Ascot.
"I think she has got a great chance," the jockey said. "But the only concern would be how soft it has got. The 5f now will be at her limit."

Surprise Downpour
Racecourse manager Sally Iggulden admitted the track had been caught out by the extent of the overnight rain.
"It was a complete surprise, we were only forecast light showers," she said.
But Iggulden does not think it will mean any great track bias and said: "It might be a bit softer in the middle of the track but it is pretty uniform."
Silca Destination (4.30) is the latest withdrawal on account of the ground.

Mass Withdrawals
The overnight rain has caused numerous withdrawals, including probable favourite Amour Propre in the opening novice stakes (2.00) and classy sprinter Hoh Mike in the feature conditions event (2.30).
Others taken out because of the softened ground are Ellies Faith (3.00), Flores Sea (3.30), Paint The Town Red, Atabaas Pride, Mooted and Deira Dubai (all 4.30) and Summer Lodge, Amazing King and King Of Connacht (all 5.00).
A vet's certificate rules Captain Scooby out (2.00), while Hartshead (3.30) has knocked a joint and Fell Pack (5.00) is lame.
Posted: 11:57am
All change
Ground conditions for the track's last meeting of the year have become markedly more testing after 8mm of rain fell overnight.
The going is now described officially as soft, good to soft in places - having been good to soft, good in places last night.

FOLKESTONE,

There'll be going without
One Way Ticket and Multahab are now out of the first (2.20).
Posted: 1:29pm
Umbrella talk
After his second walk, the clerk of the course said: "We have had far more rain than forecast. It was still good to firm early this morning.
"Now we have had 6mm and it is still raining. It hasn't stopped all morning with heavy interludes. I have changed it to good but it is still raining and I think it will be on the easier side of good in an hour's time when racing starts."

Market movers
Very quiet on the betting front early on the card but it is warming up later.
My Learned Friend has become a much-wanted outsider in the 4.20.
The 14-1 is all gone and Stan James has halved the Andrew Balding-trained runner to 7-1 to give William Buick a much-needed winner in his pursuit of the apprentice title. Skybet go 8-1 and totesport 15-2.
Howdigo is shortening towards odds-on favouritism in the 4.50, just now sticking at evens from as high as 5-4 this morning.
Celt looks assured of starting favourite for the tricky 5.20. The in-form Luca Cumani representative is in to 2-1 from 100-30 with Blue Square and 9-4 with Betfred.

Going update
Rainfall has already reached 6mm and it is still hammering down.
Clerk of the course Neil Mackenzie Ross has already scrubbed the firm in the official ground report, so we are set to start on good.
He was out walking the course again at 1pm so there could be further updates and it would be no surprise if a softer announcement is not made.
There are just two non-runners at present with Kayceebee out of the 2.50 and Kingswinford (self-certificate) out of the 3.50 to leave just six runners.
The in-demand Hayley Turner has come in for the ride on Warden Wizz in the 3.20, replacing Richard Quinn.
