3 years 7 months ago - 3 years 7 months agoYes we now have a lightening delay.
Again we ask why do they start so late and have never been given an answer FFS.
Look how well Australian racing is managed. We have a long way to go!!!
What time do Australian meetings start at?

Well went to watch the election results for about an hour then back to TT to see we have loads of soccer options.😎
Good luck to the punters that are hanging in 🤞

I think the earliest they will run R2 is about 3.30 pm and if they do 20-minute intervals we might still salvage the meeting.

Re: Vaal, Thursday 04 November
3 years 7 months agoI can't see that the weather in the last couple of years have suddenly changed such a lot that there now is 'lightning activity' almost every meeting in Gauteng in summer; so either they were negligent in the past, or they are overly cautious these days (better equipment ?) - I can't recall any incident in the last 40 years where there was a lightning strike during a meeting at a Gauteng track; we all know that lightning is dangerous, but I can't help feeling that the 'safety parameters' need some adjustment
A cameraman was struck in the tower at that course and I have been there when lightning struck next to or hit the main grandstand - Though not at the course Ex-Jockey Mienie was struck by lightning while I think fishing - secret is as many many people have mentioned is to start earlier in summer or to move the meetings to Turrfontein during the lightning season though an earlier start makes much more sense - I was told years ago that the late start was to facilitate punters w2ho went to the totes during lunch to place Exotic bets(hard to believe that now with totes being empty and online available).. The other mysterious reason was that a later start was for partners overseas who took visuals of SA Racing before their Racing started - I don't see this though as we find Cape and KZN starting much earlier than us - It's this total lack of concern for customers and owners that make Racing so unappealing to any rational person -

Again what a bloody shame for all involved in racing.
The nom, the draw, the jock, the trainer, the owner 😪😪😪😪😪
Start the process again after a wasted trip .
