HANDICAPPING RATINGS UPDATE

Western Cape Fillies Championship (Grade 2)

AMANZIMTOTI has had her merit rating raised from 97 to 110 following her emphatic win in the Grade 2 Western Cape Fillies Championship for three-year-old females over 1400m at Kenilworth on Saturday 23 October. The Handicappers were of the view that 5th placed SANTA MARIA made for the most suitable line horse, which leaves her unchanged on a mark of 100.

Runner-up CHANSONETTE was raised from 88 to 104, 3rd placed MERCURY RISING goes up from 97 to 101, and 4th placed MARIA QUEROL is up to 101 from 100. The only other ratings’ increase was for IMPRESSIVE QUEEN, who goes up from 80 to 84 so that she is rated correctly relative to the 88-rated QUICK BREEZE, who has a mark of 88 and who beat IMPRESSIVE QUEEN by four pounds at level weights.

No horses were given a ratings’ drop out of this race.

Cape Classic (Grade 3)

TRIP OF FORTUNE has had his rating raised from 104 to 106 after his victory in the Grade 3 Cape Classic for three-year-olds over 1400m at Kenilworth on Saturday. It was 2nd placed ZAPATILLAS who was used as the line horse when assessing this race, which leaves him unaltered on a rating of 104.

3rd placed XAVION was raised from 95 to 104, while 4th finisher DOUBLE SUPERLATIVE goes up from 82 to 101. There were also increases for SILVER FALCON, who is up to 95 from 90, and for RESONATE, who was picked up from 90 to 94.
