PHUMELELA MEDIA RELEASE
SUBJECT: Final field for Allied Steelrode – Onamissionmile
DATE: Tuesday 26 October
RELEASED BY: Phumelela Gaming

Most of the leading horses stood their ground and as a result the R800,000 Allied Steelrode – Onamissionmile at Turffontein on Saturday should be an awesome race.
Got The Greenlight, Malmoos and MK’s Pride head up this Grade 2 race over 1600m on the Standside track and they are ably supported by the likes of Al Muthana, Puerto Manzano, Astrix and Bingwa, with a full field of 16 acceptances.
The event has been carded as Race 5, and will be run at 14.25.
The earlier time has been allocated as SABC 3 will be giving the Allied Steelrode - Onamissionmile, formerly known as the Charity Mile, full coverage.
In addition, there are two carryovers at Turffontein, with R1 million kicking off a Pick 6 MEGAPOOL, expected to reach R5 million, and another R1 million added to the Quartet Pool for the Allied Steelrode - Onamissionmile (Race 5), which is expected to climb to R2 million.
There are five other feature races on the card, including the Grade 3 Graham Beck Stakes over 1400m, where top-class filly Desert Miracle will take on the boys.
That will no doubt delight trainer Paul Peter who has Big Burn running in the Grade 3 HSH Princess Charlene Starling Stakes for three-year-old fillies over 1400m. The
The other features are the Grade 3 Yellowwood Handicap for fillies and mares over 1800m and the Listed Golden Loom Handicap over 1000m and Listed Java Stakes over 2400m.

Early final field betting www.worldsportsbetting.co.za/mplevents/111326376_

Are the charities still benefitting from this race?

Thor I am not sure?
It will be a pity as a very good cause.
I am sure you are aware that transparency in racing is at an all time low .
One thing I do remember was being asked to attend the draw for ABC and was informed that certain "personalities, " were asking appearance money to attend the event 😪

Quite ironic, Dave Scott has the winning jockey up already as his profile picture. Thor, you have the B correct, it's Bling not Bingwa.

No reason to read the tea leaves today, it's all here in plain sight;)

See Hollywood have just trimmed their odds from 5/1 into 9/2, WSB was always 4/1, mmmmm, something afoot me thinks.

And Bayern you have the name incorrect, it's Bingwa for Press not Thor :cheer: How does this new info affect the result.

Indeed Dave. The race itself has become known and well supported because of the good it did for the charities. Would hope that they've kept that spirit and are keeping the support going, provided that it is still financially viable to do so of course, which these days is hard to say.

I'd suggest they wouldn't be able to afford you and Bob if they had to pay appearance fees for these events. But in all seriousness, the celebs they did get, apart from some like Boxer Lerena etc, didn't even know a thing about racing, and to me the celebs should've been found in the racing circle. Unless the celebs were contributing something that I'm missing?
