Why does his son make the statement? It seems odd as he has always said his own piece - Is he in good health? or is a financial issue(which makes no sense as he would then have a sale instead of donating) - Very strange but I'm sure more to come as details emerge - A few more big owners leave the game and we'll soon be having 5 horse fields daily like Zim -

CVN must be the biggest owner to ever voluntarily leave racing?
PS he's keeping the stud, maybe he will race a few under new colours

The Horseracing industry cannot afford to lose any of its patrons, especially someone who has been massively invested in the industry for almost 3 decades. The reality is that almost all of the big personalities in the game are in it for themselves and their close hand-picked business partners and associates (call it a faction). There are way too many factions that exist in the game and when one is accustomed to having the entire industry revolve around oneself and suddenly the power base of your faction is obliterated and you are one of the last remaining soldiers of yesteryear, it’s a lonely and cold place. Could CVN have made a significant contribution in influencing and recalibrating the industry? I have my doubts especially when some throws in the towel after stepping away from the podium urging the entire industry to pull together as things are never as bad as they seem and we must celebrate rather than criticise!!!!
@BATMAN, anyone who pins their hopes on the task team (a saga on its own) should be voting ANC in the upcoming elections as both parties (TT and ANC) are so out of their depths, they are yet to work out the coordinates of their respective spheres that they claim ownership of.
Like the head honcho of Tellytrack. Rumour has it that this lost cause, I believe, does not know that Tellytrack is flighted on channel 249 on DSTV. How on earth did he not know who ALASTAIR COHEN is when Ali walked into his office less than a month ago. That’s like the head of the Carte Blanche production company asking that tall gentlemen who has to tilt his head when walking into his office: Who are you and where do you fit into this business of mine? What channel has this fearless leader of Tellytrack been watching since his arrival at Tellytrack and what is he being paid for if he does not know the unmistakable face and voice of South African Horseracing!!!!

In the 1990's they had Ratner and Salzman. They owned many horses together and in other partnerships. Their best was Imperious Sue. Others that was either owned by them or in other partnerships include, Clifton King, Taineberry, Jalberry, Autumn Lodge, Toccata, Tommy Hotspur, Midday Concert, Global News, etc

Re: Have you heard the rumours?
2 years 5 months agoI understand that CVN had stopped buying anymore horses. Have no idea of his intentions of his current stock but a severe blow to the Tarry outfit. As far as Ali, we wish him all the best in his exciting new venture, another sad loss for SA racing. I am sure he will carry the SA flag with pride. It's now official and we wish Ali all the best in his new position in Dubai Jebel Ali 😎

Ali Cat must've been the next best caller after Nico stopped... nothing beats the sound of a screamer...
I think P De Beyer next big owner.
