Durbs your last post to me makes no sense .
Reunion drifts and the best backed horse wins .... that is the filly KT Perry ....
The reason Reunion drifted was because there was no money for it it seems, the Peter stable is a huge punting stable. They probably didn't have the confidence ...first run after gelding .... top weight .... 3 year old.... last run very poor ..... was even money the right price to start with ? Not in my book .... But I transgress
So you reckon it's the bookies who would have won in the race , but KT Perry is the best backed horse in the race .... thereby most of the bookies lost in the race .... so how did they make money from Reunion and by drifting it ??? Your argument is flawed .

My advice to you , become a bookie so you can become part of this very secret society of the Illuminati that has all the info and is forever winning or get yourself a Betfair account and make yourself millions .

I have known dozens of bookmakers who have gone bust and dozens of professional gamblers who have gone out laying favourites on Betfair .

It's part of the game , either enjoy it or get out , but it's the continuous moaning that is just too much to bear .

Come now Beyond The Pale.
Bookies drift a horse so they can entice punters to have a bet at a price the punter thinks is worth the gamble.
They might have lost on the best backed horse in the field but many would have thought 22-10 for the best horse in the race is worth a gamble and that is how bookies balance their books.
If they knew the horse was fit and had a good chance of winning, not sure 22-10 would have been available.
Yes they get it wrong sometimes but as CnC stated they have eyes everywhere and in all likelihood pay for that info given to them on the wellbeing of the horse.
Think about this....if it was so easy beating the bookies why isn’t the whole world playing the horses?
You can study as much form as you want and think you have the winner but if the horse is not fit enough, had a setback at home, blood count not right or even maybe the trainer wants it’s merit rating down, you already at a disadvantage and the punter on the street doesn’t get given that information.
That is why the betting changes can help us to know a bit more.
And also why do bookies limit the punters that win?
They don’t want to continually payout those that beat them, they want the punters who lose more often than win.
The sharpest blokes on the block are these bookmakers.

One thing for sure about Durbs he's an active member on the forum. Horse n hound mentioned Jack Dash and I agree with him, those are the guys that made very useful and active contribution on this forum. Personally I learned a lot from his wisdom. These days there are just too many spectators, even a 1+1 question will not get a response. Where's gregbucks, Andrewest, Titch, etc. those were them great contributors on this forum. and what about my friend Benito, he used to crack me up :)
