In this case, he was not able to use his 2.5kg claim, as he was a last minute replacement for a senior jockey, so even more impressive. One has to ask why the other jocks are such poor judges of pace that they can allow him to scoot away off a false early pace without reacting timeously, but all credit to the young man.

To be fair, Gallop doesn't "say" he claimed, but rather the -2.5Kg is hard coded into his name on the site, so any mention of his name brings up that -2.5Kg, just like X Jacobs -4Kg comes up whenever selecting him as jockey.
And the commentator made an easy to make error when associating this jockey with the claim, exacerbated by the horse being allowed to be so far in front. His job is to call the horses, not bet them, which some other commentators could learn.

The commentator and the on course presenter ought to know the rules, and it’s their job to inform the public and viewers of changes and the relevant details prior to the race. I confirmed with the assistant trainer after the race that the 2.5 kg claim could not be used and that the filly carried the full carded weight.

In the stipes report it states that the apprentice claimed 2.5Kg's, wouldn't be surprised if that is also incorrect.
