I have Zanadu running in the 15:40 over 2000m. Here's what you need to know :
1.) She is fit and well and has progressed satisfatorily since her return to competition.
2.) Her rider commented that she tired 'just in the last bit' at her last outing. She should be pretty much race fit now as it is her third run after a long break.
3.) The jockey asked for the ride after her last run.
4.) We are getting plenty of weight from the field and won't be taking any prisoners.
5.) She has always run well at Durbanville. Those of you with long memories might recall she ran a solid second to no less a filly than Dynasty's Blossom at this course when both were still maidens. And the difference in their purchase prices was 'only' R4,48 million!
6.) There has been a little rain in Cape Town this morning which doesn't bother her.
My only concern is this :
I visited her with carrots yesterday and she seemed a little subdued. Normally she just about jumps over the stable door at the prospect of any food. The Trainer said (refer Race Horse Excuses Volume 17; paragraph
that she had been given a large amount of feed before my arrival in preparation of her race.
As always there is probably good value to be had; which rather proves that telling the punters the truth does not necessarily result in a horse starting odds on. I would be very wary of leaving her out of anything.
Please be aware that I do not punt my own horses.
Just think - is she wins the stake will cover a-l-m-o-s-t 2 months keep. Yipee!

Cool and cloudy in CT today- we had a bit of rain overnight and this morning but nothing that should affect the going which should be good. No wind now but forecast a moderate headwind later.
There are short priced favourites throughout the pick 6- the trick will be to decide which ones are bankers and which can be beaten.
Race 1Our World, Opera Swing and Viridian Light all have shown enough to shed their maidens, but a few well bred first timers who must be respected.
Race 2. Iris good debut and the one to beat. Maussane good improvement last time is the main danger.Perfect Trust and Isla Mauricio fair debuts and can challenge with normal improvement.. Again first timers can surprise.
race 3 Benjamin looks a banker for pick 6. First timers could be anything, and of the raced runners Sabina's prodigy could be the danger.
Race 4 I won't be banking the favourite Purple Cloud in this race, but will add Ticket to Ride and Seeking the Stars.
race 5 Dazzling Sun's job a lot easier with Gayleactic Star scratched. For cover perms add Gate Sixty Nine and Respectable Miss.
Race 6. reduced to only 5 runners, and while Dynastic Light looks the horse to beat, the price is too skinny and this could be a field leg. Zanadu is well in at the weights and front runners in small fields over ground must be respected. 8/1 is good value.
Race 7 I like the look of Centillus here as he should enjoy the step up in trip and must still be well ahead of the handicapper. The Kotzen coupling and Destin also have to be included in bigger perms. For those looking for a bomb Meliora has no recent form but is very well in at the weights on last seasons best form.
race 8 Noir's Boy is the one to beat assuming further improvement, but no value at the price. Morse poor last run but on earlier form must be right there. Canary Island and Picture the Moment can go into larger perms.
