Race 1 Alpirod good debut and is the first choice and a bipot banker, but I can't have 7/10 when there are unknown first timers. private Initiative showed good improvement last time and if repeating this course and trip should earn.
Race 2 We have Silver Fountain running- she is fit and well and should not have a problem with the step up in trip. Forries on Friday and Flying Squaw both good debuts and with normal improvement must be respected. All the Stars has solid form and just failed last time, so should also fight out the finish. Add Queen Makeda to back end of quartets.
race 3 & 4 very competitive handicaps and no selection.
Race 5 Another open handicap. We have Forty Days running- he ran well first time in PE and is fit and well despite the break. Unfortunately he has drawn wide in all his entries and we have to run him from a very deep draw, so he will need a lot of luck to get into a decent position. The two Greeff runners and Leadman make up the shortlist but plenty others with chances.
Race 6 Favorita demolished a similar field over 1200m and should not have a problem with the extra distance. Her last run in CT was excusable in the wet as she was drawn the wrong side of the track. Eternal Hope looks the best of the local runners.
Race 7 Elusive Heart has done well in PE and she comes into this race in top form. 1200m is her minimum trip, and she will be outpaced early and will run hard at them late. Princess Rebel is top class, but has been confined to 1000m. If she sees out the 1200m is weighted to win this, although the stable jockey is on Mary OReilly. The latter won a good race recently, and although she also seems to prefer 1000m, she has decent earlier form over this trip, including runner-up in last year's Ladies Pendant. The two Bremner runners are currently at surprisingly big prices. La Bella Mia is not the most consistent, but on best form is good enough. World Radar has won 3 of her 5 starts, and has plenty of talent, but is another that is somewhat in-and out.
Race 8 An open F&M handicap to end the day. The top 3 in the betting (2,3,7) are the most consistent, and not much between them, but an upset always on the cards in this type of race.
