Retired professional South African golfer, Gary Player has won a lawsuit against a company owned by one of his sons. Along with being awarded $5-million (R85-million), he will get the rights to his name and likeness back.

The 84-year-old golfer will be paid out by the company, the Gary Player Group, which is headed by his son Marc Player, according to the New York Post.

Player’s attorney has said that the lawsuit was a result of a contractual dispute and $5-million in royalties was owed to the golfer.

According to Golf Channel, Player designs golf courses, sells golf equipment and sportswear under his nickname, ‘The Black Knight’. Player has been called this as he is famous for wearing all black on the golf course.

Player is the only non-US citizen to win all four major golf championships. In his career, Player won three Open Championships, two PGA tours, one US Open and three Masters. He has won a total of 24 PGA Tour titles.

He went on to win the senior tour 19 times, in which he won two US Senior Opens and four other majors as well as a Senior Open.
