COVID19 - South African Horse Racing

This is the most difficult day that I have personally experienced during my days as a journalist. Today we are/supposed to hear from Government, if we may resume Racing. Horse Racing that is. Please watch and try to comprehend the dire situation for the Staff who depend on these beautiful animals. The Horse.A horse is the projection of peoples' dreams about themselves--strong, powerful, beautiful--and it has the capability of giving us escape from our mundane lives - Andrew Bon

what i respect about Andrew is his total love of the game. His knowledge is second to none. He is an asset to the sport and my few chats I have had with him , he is most respectful . These interviews are most informative , well done . comments re possibility of having to put horses down leaves me ice cold and helpless

As per usual the people getting paid to do their jobs are what are important to this industry.........f#$@ the owners who are funding it all. (Well done Andrew for pointing it out to her.) It just reiterates where this industries priorities lie. The RA are funding most functions that are taking place, sure the owners will hopefully benefit, but so will everyone else. Politics seems far more important at this time ? What a load of crap. The owners fund everything (with no punting) and how many owners can afford to fund a whole industry for the love of the animal??? Unbelievable how people working in the industry prioritize whats important for the industry. The animal and the owner ?(NOT)
Great, all these measures that have been put in place for all in the industry to keep their jobs and for it to continue, at the same time everyone keeps patting themselves on the back for a job well done. HUH? Maybe all a little to late but lets see if anything comes of it.
Unfortunately, I believe this model can never be sustained even if it is only a temporary measure. The owners can never fund this industry for another month in this economic environment.
Very sad times for the animal we love.
