Hawwaam ran a cracker today

Might be my eyes, but was there some tail movement from Hawwaam the last 400m?

Is that usual of him? Or is he feeling something?

With unbiased eyes I just can't see what if anything Moore did wrong - His horse moved up well but in the death the stronger horse prevailed - Had he sat closer and pushed One World all the way I think both horses could well have gone too fast - Better horse won on the day and just reward for MJ who was jocked off One World early in his career. If racing is still around in 4 years time I think buyers of the progeny of One World will have lots of success with his offspring. Regarding Hawaam I think he needs gelding BUT if they choose not to do so then it would be a massive waste to export him - If left intact he could be a decent sire BUT then again he could well throw horses with mental issues as his family seems to be skittish based only on history(maybe Hawaam's issues were exaggerated as he seems relaxed now) - History shows that South African Gr 1 winning 3yr old colts turn out to be top sires

Have to agree Mr H
I did watch with a biased eye and thought for 95% of the race that Moore ....was winning
Well done to winning connections

On the day, we saw Clouds Unfold and Eric the Red show they will have great Durban Seasons as both of there running styles suit the Greyville circuit.

Eric showed he has immense pace out the gates and high cruising speed that allows him another gear.

Clouds Unfold once again confirmed that she has an exhilarating burst of speed' she showed that in the sprint behind Celtic Sea in the previous race' but over a more relaxed 1600 from a horrible draw really confirmed that with the short Greyville run in...she will be powering home.

Hawaam in my view would of got a lot closer if not even won..if Marcus had the freedom to ride him as per his instinct. That in my view would of been to run out the gates hard...slot 2 deep and be no more than 3 lengths behind at the 400m. He came from way back...and with the heavy wind he was still the best finisher. I think the flack he took on the Queens Plate may have double dipped his judgement and to be 'compliant' dropped the horse from the back and hoped to out run them at the end. Nothing away from One World...he won fair and square...and in the game you need the misfortune of other horses 2.

Marcus almost never not wins on the big day...I wonder if he considers how the different the storyline could of been if he applied his usual magical instinct to a situation and took the decision based upon what he saw best.

In fact One World rode the race that Hawaam should of ideally ran...draw..etc coming into play.

Why is HK a shit hole Bob?
Money way better.
Two of the world's best jockeys in De Sousa and Moriera riding there.
Not sure you will find a place that runs horse racing more professionally than HK.
Stipes do there job properly and don't take shit.
Bad riding gets looked into and if you deemed not to have tried your best you banned.
The tote is run properly with mistakes very few if not any, unlike ours who make mistakes on a daily basis.
Information about horse racing is just a click away, trackwork and sectional timing that actually works.
People actually attend race meetings who are interested in horse racing not like here on big days when the crowd is there for the music, fashion, drink or just want to be seen.
So you say Aldo made a good choice coming back to the Cape where they just had to cancel a race meeting as they couldn't full the fields?
Less competitive for him yes but better no ways.

They attend to gamble

And the racing is shite ( two or 3 good meeting a year )

Every weekend in the UK and Australia there are huge race days ... That’s the pinnacle
