TRAINER COMMENTS and Nadine’s selections
RACE 1 :
1st four selections
4 / 8 / 5 / 3
• ALAN GREEFF - Numbers 1, 2, 4 and 5 - CERELIA, CIANNA, ETERNAL
HOPE & HERRIN : All the first timers can run well if not too green,
they look fair sorts. Cianna must improve.
• GAVIN SMITH - Numbers 3, 6, 7 and 8 - DEHAB, JACKSONS GLORY,
LEADER OF THE PACK & SUAR GUM : Dehab is a nice filly and she will be
thereabouts. Jacksons Glory is bred for further and will be running on
late. Leader of the Pack has come on from her debut run, she is also
bred for further and will be finishing. Sugar Gum was an unlucky loser
in her last and should be right there.
RACE 2 :
1st four selection
5 / 8 / 4 / 7
• GRANT PADDOCK - Number 4 - PINCH POT : He has his first run in PE
and it will be a learning curve as I have not had him very long.
• DUNCAN MCKENZIE - Numbers 8 and 14 - SHADES OF BLU & INTERSTATE :
Shades of Blu will run well. Interstate ran a fair race over a sprint
in his last but could still need this.
JUAN NEL - Number 9 - OCEAN MASTER : He has his first run for the
yard and will probably need further. This is a starting point and I
will know more about him after this.
JACQUES STRYDOM - Number 13 - NEWS ALERT : He needs to show
significant improvement.
MONTANA TURNER - Numbers 1, 2 and 12 - LITTLE DRUMMER BOY, LOST
MONARCH & MONTANA SKY : Little Drummer Boy can run well but off a long
break he could just need it. I am going to try a change in racing
tactics with Lost Monarch and hopefully he can settle and run on. He
is working very well and I am hoping for better. I am hoping Montana
Sky will run a fair race, but he does need gelding.
GAVIN SMITH - Numbers 6, 10 and 11 - BENICARLO, WHAT A PRINCE & ARMO
: Benicarlo is always thereabouts, he does have a wide draw against
him. What a Prince tries further. Armo has his first run for the yard,
he could place.
RACE 3 :
1st four selections
5 / 4 / 14 / 3
• ALAN GREEFF - Numbers 3, 5, 6 and 7 - ASCENDING HEIGHTS, KEEPER OF
THE KEYS, AMPLE GLORY & FLYING COLOURS : Ascending Heights hasn’t
quite lived up to what I thought her capapble of. She tries blinkers
for the first time and has a place chance. Keeper of the Keys will
enjoy the step up in trip and has an each way shout. Ample Glory could
be at best on Poly but is holding form and has a place chance. Hoping
for improvement from Flying Colours as she tries further.
• MONTANA TURNER - Number 4 - WORLD SQUARED : She ran a positive
race with cheek pieces on last time out. She took the run well, is
showing good work back home and another good run is expected. I really
do expect her in the first two.
TARA LAING - Number 9 - PRECIOUS JEWEL : She is improving with each
run and could place.
GAVIN SMITH - Numbers 10, 11 and 13 - INAN, GREEN EDITION &
ROYALTIES : Expecting improvement from Inan and Royalties. Hoping for
improvement from Green Edition.
SHARON KOTZEN - Number 12 - IDEAL DANCER : She will appreciate the
extra but will still need this educationally, this being only her
second run and I am just hoping to see improvement.
JUAN NEL - Number 14 - TERRA CREEK GIRL : She ran an improved race
as expected on turf last time out and has shown further improvement
back home. If she settles, she will run well trying the mile for the
first time.
DUNCAN MCKENZIE - Number 1 - QUEEN MAKEDA : Hoping that she can show
improvement.
RACE 4 :
1st four selections
3 / 1 / 6 / 4
• ALAN GREEFF - Numbers 1, 2 and 3 - AMBRA, STOPTHINKINGOFME &
SUNSHINE MINT : Ambra is working very well, she is distance suited and
should be thereabouts. Stopthinkingofme is better than her last, she
is down in class and can earn. Sunshine Mint won well on debut, she
can follow up.
• GAVIN SMITH - Numbers 5, 8, 9 and 11 - CLOUD ATLAS, BOUVIER,
YODALICIOUS & DOMINICA : Cloud Atlas ran a good race in her last and
won well, she has a chance. Bouvier has needed runs and is coming back
to herself, she could place. Yodalicious is working well, she has a
place chance. Dominica can run into quartets.
TARA LAING - Number 10 - GIMME KATRINA : She has needed her last two
runs and can get closer.
JACQUES STRYDOM - Number 12 - GO SNOW GIRL GO : She races off a
break, is under sufferance and will need the run.
RACE 5 :
1st four selections
3 / 1 / 6 / 4
• GAVIN SMITH - Number 1 - HOOVES OF TROY : He is working well and
should have a good chance.
• ALAN GREEFF - Number 3 - WORLD RADAR : She is not expected to need
the run back off a break. She is well weighted and has a winning
chance, though I definitely have respect for Hooves of Troy.
SHARON KOTZEN - Number 4 - ANUCHKE’S WINGS : She makes off local
debut and is a nice filly racing in good form. A decent run is
expected but this is on the sharp side for her.
JACQUES STRYDOM - Numbers 5 and 7 - TRAVEL IN STYLE & HUMANITARIAN :
Both horses are badly out at the weights, so they have a tough task.
TARA LAING - Numbers 6 and 10 - CAPTAIN ANNE BONNY & SEATTLE TANGO :
Captain Anne Bonny needed her last and could still need this. Seattle
Tango may find this on the short side, but she could place.
DUNCAN MCKENZIE - Numbers 2 and 8 - TORIO LAKE & WICKED GRIN : Torio
Lake was a well deserved winner in his last, he’s very honest and
Wicked Grin managed a fair post maiden run in his last. I am hoping
for decent runs from the both of them, but at the weights they do have
a tough task.
RACE 6 :
1st four selections
9 / 10 / 3 / 1
• SHARON KOTZEN - Numbers 2, 8 and 10 - WOOD FOR THE TREES,
STRAWBERRY WINE & PUREST BLISS : In an open field all three have a
chance at getting involved. Wood for the Trees is out at the weights
but in good form and coming along the right way. Strawberry Wine is
best off at the weights and looking for the mile I feel. Purest Bliss
is not badly in at the weights either and has the draw on her side.
• TARA LAING - Numbers 6, 9 and 11 - BREVIN, PALACE QUEEN & CLOUD
BREAK : Brevin has his first run after the gelding. He is expected to
improve as he did need the gelding, but could just need his first run
back from a fitness point of view. We are expecting better from Palace
Queen trying the mile.
GAVIN SMITH - Number 1 and 3 - TOM ‘N JERRY & BHALTIER : Tom ‘N
Jerry is coming back to his best form and should be thereabouts.
Bhaltier should need the run.
ALAN GREEFF - Numbers 4 and 5 - GIACOMO & DUKE OF CARDS : Giacomo is
holding form and has a chance. Duke of Cards has his post maiden run
and is up in class.
RACE 7 :
1st four selections
1 / 3 / 9 / 7
• CANDICE BASS-ROBINSON (comments made prior to travel) - Number 1 -
STAR FIGHTER : She enjoys PE and although a slight concern is that
this run is a bit close to her last with the travelling involved
(having run two weeks ago), she is working well, looking very good and
I do feel she has a good chance.
• ALAN GREEFF - Numbers 2, 3, 5, 7, 8 and 9 - MERYL, MADAME
SPEAKER, DELIA’S DELIGHT, CHAKRI, SOLEMN PROMISE & LUNA WISH : This
trip may ideally be short for Meryl but don’t write her off. Madame
Speaker is a class act, the distance is a concern as it is her max,
especially against decent company, but she is super honest and a smart
filly. Delia’s Delight is versatile over distances and generally
consistent she is not without chance. Chakri may be up in class but
she very well suited to the mile and is, in fact, unbeaten over course
and distance. Solemn Promise is expected to need this. Luna Wish is a
classy three year old, she is out at the weights, but can feature.
RACE 8 :
1st four selections
2 / 1 / 10 / 3
• GAVIN SMITH - Numbers 1 and 7 - MATTINA & GREEN CAVIAR : Mattina
is holding form, she posted a good win in her last and should be
thereabouts again. Green Caviar ran a fair last and will enjoy the
extra.
• TARA LAING - Numbers 2 and 6 - NO MORE WORDS, MISS CALYPSO DOUBLED
OVER : No more Words ran a nice race in her first outing for the yard
last time out and a similar run again is expected. Miss Calypso is
sliding down in the ratings and we are hoping for an improved run.
Doubled Over has her first run for the yard, she races fresh and could
just need it.
ALAN GREEFF - Numbers 3, 9 and 11 - PRINCESS KALISI, RUBY DAWN &
LADYSMITH : Princess Kalisi will be better over this trip and
improvement is expected. Ruby Dawn must improve. Ladysmith is never
far back and always has a place chance.
DUNCAN MCKENZIE - Number 8 - READY SET GO : I have been waiting for
the 1400m on grass for her and she will run well.
SHARON KOTZEN - Number 10 - QUERENCIA : She has her post maiden run
but I am expecting a nice run and if she reproduces the run that she
won her maiden with, she does have a chance and will be in the shake
up.
RACE 1 :

4 / 8 / 5 / 3
