Yeni was on the receiving end of a fall just weeks ago so he, of all people, should have been acutely aware of the risk to rider and horse when he pulled that stunt.

Last year a professional Motorbike racer was banned for the entire season for interfering with an opponent mid-race - as far as I'm concerned, dangerous conduct in this sport should be met with same punishment.

2 top riders were kicked off the tour de France this year for bumping each other in the lead up to the finish and Peter Sagan( widely accepted as the best all round bike rider in the world)had the same last year if I remember correctly.

Any DELIBERATE action that risks injury to both rider and horse should result in a season penalty. Combined with directly baulking a horse with your mount, in the same race...

Let's see what comes of this. Sticking your arm out to u balance another jock is a serious serious offence imo! There are 2 lives at stake by that stupid action. I hope this gets the full wrath of the NHRA

Did muzi stick his arm out?
Which race?
Please can someone put the replay?
Didnt muZi also try to assault or did assault a jockey some years back at greyville?or did he get some punters behind him to hit a jockey?

Correct Sir P I'm sure Chippy would confirm that. And I'm sure that's not the only time.

Muzi's gripe on the ban aside, he needs to face the music on the incident during the race. Perhaps Lyle needed to have fallen after being pushed in order for the stipes to take action. Everyone watching the replay can see he clearly tried to push Lyle off (Even if his argument is probably going to be he was race riding - Then it was poor race riding, as he got beaten for first run then only woke up, and waking up doesn't entail taking out your competition).

Lyle is a young guy who will probably be one of the world greats in future, definitely didn't need his career being put on the line because someone locally needs to win a championship by default.

Muzi has always attracted a few issues

A few reported on here

Getting his mates to beat up Chippy

The fight with that lady owner

The Island arrest

The accident at Kenilworth ( horse broke jaw )

Throwing either or a whip or stick at an errant horse at Summerveld

I have it that SA racing and Hong Kong racing have a good understanding.....Lyle cannot do any sort of riding there until the suspension period is over.
Smanga went the same route of appealing when he won the title and his appeal was heard at the beginning of the new season.
Sour grapes...I see a ban coming.
Take away Muzi's Kimberley winners and that will leave where on the table....
Smanga got fired from the Tarry stable when he 'pulled' a job on Al Sahem in the July.

Are some jockeys, especially those contending for the title not allowed to ride in Kimberley?

jockey rides wins win fav fav wfav 2nd 2nd 1st 1st stakes stks/
% % % % four four% rides
L Hewitson 1559 219 14% 299 19% 27% 229 15% 816 52% 27,540,172 17,665
M Yeni 1822 215 12% 267 15% 27% 237 13% 854 47% 20,304,443 11,144

LH had the better quality of rides by being supported, in the main, by the champion stable...rode 299 favourites compared to 267 for MY...with both having a winning % on favourites of 27% that translated into 8 more winners for LH...final difference was 4 winners...

Some of the things MY did, as alluded to by many posters in this thread, are terribly dangerous and unsporting and should never be condoned...and he will likely face consequences for that...

I personally don't think that the best jockey wins the title but the best supported jockey will...if you don't have the horse underneath you, you cannot make it go faster than its innate ability...but you can make it go slower than it should...:(

Doc, not having a go at you, but what job did Smanga "pull" on Al Sahem in the July? As far as i am concerned and remember, he beat the living shit out of Al Sahem and that horse will never be the same again........
