TAB MEDIA RELEASE
SUBJECT: Early start to Kenilworth on Saturday
DATE: Sunday 21 July 2019
RELEASED BY: Phumelela Gaming

This Saturday’s race meeting at Kenilworth will start and end early in order to enable the first four races to be included on the PMU (French tote) betting menu.
The first race at Kenilworth will start at 11:15 with 30-minute intervals between the first four races. The last of the eight races at the track will be run 15:30.
French tote betting turnovers on South African races in such instances are huge and starting and ending the meeting early will earn significant revenue for the horseracing and tote betting operators in this country.
There will be an abundance of five-star action for horseracing fans to bet on before and after the Kenilworth meeting.
The eLAN Gold Cup race meeting at Greyville also takes place on Saturday with a 12-race programme, beginning at noon and ending at 19:40.
There’s also racing from Mauritius, Borrowdale Park in Zimbabwe and Royal Ascot in England. The Royal Ascot fixture includes the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Qipco Stakes, the premier race for older horses on the English horseracing calendar.
The Gold Cup will be run at 16:20 and the King George 20 minutes later.
The day kicks off just after 05:00 with flat racing from five Australian racecourses.

Perhaps we can do something that the French seem incapable of doing - start a race at its advertised time.
As luck would have it this meeting will probably be washed out now that the racing gods appear to have the needle to the operator.
Looks like desperate action to me....about 21 years too late.

Yeah i find it ironic that Hong Kong and France moan like feck when our races are late and muck their schedule

France i can understand, they have many meetings to fit in... But Hong Kong are just a racing back water

Assuming they race on Saturday, will someone remember to advise the on-course doctor of the early start to the meeting
Guessing has never been widely acclaimed as a good gambling strategy.
