Tellytrack apologises

Tellytrack apologises to the racing fraternity for the insensitive broadcasting of jockey S’Manga Khumalo’s nasty fall while riding Ibra in Race 2 at Kenilworth on Tuesday.
Khumalo was sent to hospital for x-rays after the fall.
The 27-10 second favourite was battling it out with Mirage (43-20) with about 100m to go when she seemed to falter and fell, pitching Khumalo onto the turf.
He was given lengthy treatment before being taken to hospital.
“Mr Khumalo had slurred speech, felt drowsy, a headache and neck pain. He also reported a thumb injury.
“He was sent to hospital for x-rays and further examination,” said Kenilworth on-course medical officer Dr Godwin Carelse.
Ibra herself was unhurt.

I am concerned about Smango and hope that he is fine.
I am also, as always, very concerned about the horse. It would have been a better press release if the contents showed more care, respect and empathy towards the horse.

It is important, always, to be honest about all things in racing. The incident happened and was shown, which is the right thing to do.
But, how can this Industry survive, when people who work in the Industry have no clue as to the impact that their actions have on the whole Industry. I trust that all people working in racing will go through some sort of induction process. Not to hide things, but to be more sensitive and informed about racing and the bigger picture, no pun intended.

Maybe someone will actually bother to do this. I mean....miracles can happen...

They showed the side on straight away as normal and then cut away. I switched channels so did not see if they showed it again?
