July Field?

Lets be honest, there is something special about the July.
People start discussing well in advance as opposed to other SA races.
You are guaranteed a full house.
This years race does look rather special and this Handicap could be a cracker.
The only question i have is, who will be in the final field ( we will have the normal good and hard luck stories) but i am referring to all the big guns at the top of the betting boards.
I see the MDK champ keeps getting nibbles although Mike says not part of his mission, where is BBCody , Do it Again ( have heard maybe another mission) Rainbow Ridge ( defiantly the plan)
Ok guys lets spill the beans, who knows what ??

Must admit I find the will he, won't he run Hawwaam in the July very strange. Surely missing the Derby is not the over-arching factor of whether this horse goes overseas before the July or after the July, if that is indeed the plan?
Guessing has never been widely acclaimed as a good gambling strategy.

Will Greyville suite Hawwaam's style of running, with it's short run in personally don't think so

Marinaresco and Do It Again both have similar run styles to Hawwaam
Slow away and need restraining

From TAB
Star colt Hawwaam, who missed the recent Grade 1 SA Derby after he got a fright and bolted from the parade ring, is on target to race in the R4-million Premiers Champion Challenge over 2000m on 4 May at Turffontein.
Twenty-two entries have been received for the race, including Hawwaam’s Mike de Kock-trained stable mates Soqrat, Cascapedia, Barahin and Noble Secret – with other established names like Legal Eagle, Made To Conquer and Tilbury Fort also among the nominations.
Assistant trainer Mathew de Kock commented on Wednesday: “Hawwaam is being pointed at the Champions Challenge and then we’ll make a decision on his next race, which could possibly be the Daily News. We’ll be entering him for the Durban July, but he is not certain to run there.
“Our July horse at this point is Barahin, who may go into the big race via the Jubilee Handicap, he may not be ready for the Daily News. But we’ll play it by ear, we’ll see how things go.” – www.mikedekockracing.com

So far I like Chimes. I think he will come in with a low weight and hopefully is sound and being prepped maybe for a Guineas Daily News July 3 run strategy based in Durban and not raiding.. lots of value this year.

The big two and Arch-Rivals Do it Again and Rainbow bridge for me. They are a level above the rest. Don't think Hawwaam will run. Start taking bets onto them from now. They won't be 6/1 and 7/1 come race day.
Also both confirmed that the July is their main missions respectively.

Still a bit of a guessing game as to who will run ..... I think the big thing to remember is that this is a handicap (and yes I know Marinaresco managed to defy top weight), so there are bound to be a few in the race who will be much better weighted than the 'best' horses - for me I have been having a few Rand here and there on Double Mint - still at an attractive 14/1 and IF he ends up in the final field, he will be at most half those odds
