The Vaal switched to Turffontein

Following 50mm of rain at Vaal this morning, pen reading of 29 & forecast of more rain tonight, the racemeeting of 12-Mar has been moved to TURF Inside track with a pen reading of 21 being a much safer option.

what looks like quite a trappy card..

race 1
drawn on the wrong side but 11 - queen of Rose's really like the breeding will have a look on the way down
9 - desert kitten is my other selection

race 2
2 - setablaze looks the right one although..
11 - bold matador finished strong over the 1000 and will relish the extra furlong I'm backing this one

a quick double for Paul Peter

Race 1

Heather Adamson
No 1 Seneca Falls - She's better than her recent runs suggest. However
she is not drawn on the right side of the track and my find it
difficult from the draw.
Michael Mahiakola
No 2 Sparkling Gold - Is well but would probably be better over further.
No 3 Setsokotsane - Has some breathing problems which will restrict
her to these shorter distances.

Race 2

Sean Tarry
No 12 Culture Trip - May need further
No 13 God Of Thunder - May need further
Paul Peter
No 11 Bold Matador - Ran close up on debut and has an each way chance
Alec Laird
No 1 Potjie - Is working well and should be in the first three

Race 3

Sean Tarry
No 11 Palace Queen - May just need it
Paul Peter
No 7 Gold Griffin - Shows nice work at home but needs to reproduce it
at the race course. He has a place chance.

Race 4

Heinrich van der Westhuizen
No 9 Party In Maine - Will need the run
Sean Tarry
No 11 Someone's Secret - May need the run
Heather Adamson
No 4 Sea Like Glass - Is well in herself and always tries her best.
Geoff Woodruff
No 10 Evening Bell - Had a nice first run and we're hoping to see
further improvement over the longer distance. She should be concerned
in the finish

Race 5

Ashley Fortune
No 4 Verdier - Has consistent form and always tries his best. Hoping
to go one better.
No 3 Ragoon - Is in good form. Although it is getting more difficult,
he does have another winning chance.

Race 6

Geoff Woodruff
No 5 Emily Hobhouse - Had had some pleasing recent runs. She is an
honest filly and also has a decent draw.
Paul Peter
No 1 Pilgrim's Progress - Is holding form well and has a good each way chance

Race 7

Mike Azzie
No 5 Major Return - Has been disappointing of late. However if he
brings his track work to the course he is not without a chance.
Ashley Fortune
No 10 Horace - Will be better suited to this longer trip and should
now start to improve.
Paul Peter
No 2 Defy Gravity - Distance suited, each way chance
No 9 Corrido - Has an each way chance
No 4 Seventh Of June - Has an each way chance

Race 8

Mike Azzie
No 9 Lady Negra - Has her share of issues to deal with. Though on her
day she is capable of surprising
Ashley Fortune
No 15 Cohiba Allday - Has her first run for the stable since
relocating from the Cape. She will need this run to bring her back to
her best.
No 7 Get Your Grove On - Comes back to her favorite distance and she should
give a good account of herself.
Paul Peter
No 2 Tammany Hall - Is working well at home and has an each way chance

With the switch to Turf Inside, I like a few today .... in the 6th I'm giving Glamorous Scandal another chance - hopefully the tongue-tie will help and if ignoring her last run, she looks very well in here - track and trip does not hurt either; in the 7th, Corrido looks well in and good value at 10s - has run well at this track and also has the draw; in the last I think Viscountess Vivien can feature from a good draw at nice odds - the dangers imo are Kentucky Blue and Bullsade

Enjoy B)
