With no inside info at all, I am willing to say that the Soft Falling Rain Colt will not start anywhere near 4/1 come race time...

TRAINER’S / JOCKEY’S COMMENTS :

RACE 1 :

1ST FOUR SELECTIONS :

6 / 2 / 4 / 10

GAVIN SMITH - Numbers 2, 5 and 10 - AEMILIANO, DUET & TRIAL RUN : Aemiliano is a nice colt and should be thereabouts if not too green. Duet was very green in his first start and improvement is expected. Trial Run is improving all the time and can place.

ALAN GREEFF - Numbers 3 and 6 - ALRIGHT JACK & FOREIGN SOURCE : Alright Jack ran a fair debut race and can get closer. Foreign Source has managed two good runs so far, the tongue tie goes on and he has a decent chance.

JACQUES STRYDOM - Numbers 1 and 8 - ADIOS GRINGO & KING CAPONE : They will both need the run and the experience.

RACE 2 :

1ST FOUR SELECTIONS :

10 / 11 / 13 / 8

SHARON KOTZEN - Numbers 4, 12, 13 and 14 - EFFORT, ROCKING THE BLUES, SCARBOROUGH FAIR & SHE’S COOKING : Effort ran a nice race on debut, hopefully she can repeat, she will be better suited to the 1200m. Rocking the Blues was very disappointing on debut, she was very green. She has come on, will a bit further and an improved run is expected. Scarborough Fair has run to good races so far, the extra furlong will suit and hse can be there again. She’s Cooking has her first run, she will need further.

ALAN GREEFF - Numbers 5, 6 and 10 - ELDA, ELISABETTA & MENDOCINO : Elda needed her debut run and can improve. Elisabetta has her first run. Mendocino ran a good first race and has a winning chance.

GAVIN SMITH - Numbers 1, 2, 7, 8 and 16 - ALASKAN FATE, ALISA’S PEARL, FLAME UP, IM GLOBAL & YODALICIOUS : Expecting improvement from Alaskan Fate. Alisa’s Pearl is working well, she is looking for further but can place. Flame Up will enjoy the extra 200m and can place. Im Global is a nice filly and can be thereabouts if not green. Expecting improvement from Yodalicious.

TARA LAING - Number 3 - CAPTAIN ANNE BONNY : She ran a good first run and we are expecting further improvement, she can get closer.

RACE 3 :

1ST FOUR SELECTIONS :

5 / 4 / 1 / 3

ALAN GREEFF - Number 4 - HIDDEN POWER : She has a chance.

TARA LAING - Number 5 - THOKZINE : She ran fair race in her last and must have chance here.

GAVIN SMITH - Numbers 7, 14 and 15 - SURPRISE APPROACH, PIPER CUB & ROCKINGTHEDISTRICT : Surprise Approach has her first for the yard and can improve. Piper Cub is looking for further. Rockingthedistrict could enjoy being back on turf.

SHARON KOTZEN - Numbers 9 and 13 - PRINCESS ELSA & MISSISIPPI QUEEN : Princess Elsa has been disappointing. Her work is much better so hopefully she can show improvement. Missisippi Queen runs for the first time, she does want further, this is an educational outing for her. DUNCAN MCKENZIE - Numbers 2 and 8 - WINTER ORCHID & PASHTOOSH : Winter Orchid tries the tongue tie. She has a quartet chance. Pashtoosh is well, her work is good and she can earn again.

JACQUES STRYDOM - Numbers 3, 6, 10 and 12 - DESERT WANDERER, TREE OF LIFE, GRACI LITEHOUSECAT & MAID SO FAR : Desert Wanderer was disappointing last time out, she can do better and should be in the money. Tree of Life needs to regain her best form, but could need this off a break. Hoping for improvement from Graci Litehousecat. Maid so Far will need the run.

RACE 4 :

1ST FOUR SELECTIONS :

6 / 9 / 4 / 8

ALAN GREEFF - Numbers 2, 6 and 7 - DAMARALAND, LIGHT ON HER TOES & MEGA SCENE : Damaraland is back to 1200m, she has won over the trip and can earn. Light on her Toes is consistent and has a winning chance. Mega Scene tries the blinkers and can hopefully improve.

VAUGHAN MARSHALL - Number 8 - CHARGE D’ AFFAIRES : She has her second run back after quite a lengthy break, but she is expected to run well.

TARA LAING - Number 11 - SAMBA WITH SUZIE : She is coming back from a break and could need it.

JACQUES STRYDOM - Number 1 - TRAVEL IN STYLE : She was a bit disappointing in her last but will appreciate the step back in trip and does have a quartet chance.

GAVIN SMITH - Number 5 - JOKING : She is working well but does have a tough task in this field.

RACE 5 :
1ST FOUR SELECTIONS :

2 / 4 / 3 / 5

SHARON KOTZEN - Number 2 - COUNTING STARS : He has a big weight but in this Division can be competitive.

TARA LAING - Number 5 - CAPTAINED MAROONED : Put a line through his last, he is better on the turf and this is his right distance, he has a decent chance.

GAVIN SMITH - Numbers 7 and 10 - EX NIHILO & ROYAL FORT : Ex Nihilo has a place chance. Royal Fort can run into quartets.

JACQUES STRYDOM - Number 11 - CHESTNUT WILD : He is so honest and holding form well. He loves course and distance and we are expecting another good run.

ALAN GREEFF - Numbers 3, 6 and 12 - DYNASTY’S BOY, SEVILLE & LEAGUE GAME : Dynasty’s Boy could need this but can run well. Hoping for improvement from Seville and League Game.

RACE 6 :

1ST FOUR SELECTIONS :

1 / 2 / 7 / 5

TARA LAING - Numbers 1, 2 and 9 - EXELERO, OMEGA ONSLAUGHT & STARFLASH : Exelero is very well weighted and must be a big runner. Omega Onslaught loves the 1100m and is also in with a big chance. Starflash would be better over 1000m.

ALAN GREEFF - Numbers 5 and 7 - KIMBERLEY STAR & ALDO : Kimberley Star posted a good last win, he does have a tougher task here at the weights, but is still in with a chance. Aldo us a useful sort, he is consistent and though he bumps a strong field is a runner.

VAUGHAN MARSHALL - Number 6 - OLYMPIAN : It is a strong field and I’d be happy if he places.

GAVIN SMITH - Number 11 - AMAZON KING : He always gives of his best but takes on stronger.

RACE 7 :

1ST FOUR SELECTIONS :

2 / 3 / 1 / 5

VAUGHAN MARSHALL - Number 2 - ROCHESTER : He has come on well from his good maiden win and he can be competitive again.

CANDICE BASS-ROBINSON - Number 3 - WHAT A SUMMER : He is always competitive and in the money. I think he will enjoy the long run in of the Fairview turf and he should be there again.

SHARON KOTZEN - Numbers 5 and 12 - HUMBLE ADDICT & STEP OUT : Humble Addict is very consistent and one day he will have his day, he has a chance here again. Step Out has to take on the boys, there are no races for her in same sex company. She has done her best over the mile on grass.

TARA LAING - Number 7 - LEADMAN : He has dropped a lot in the merit ratings and is in with a shout.

JACQUES STRYDOM - Number 10 - PACHUCO : The blinkers are back on and back in trip he can get closer.

GAVIN SMITH - Numbers 1, 4, 8 and 9 - SEATTLE SWING, WILDCAT, KEYBOOGIE & SUNDAY FALLS : It looks to be a very competitive field, which will make it tough. Seattle Swing tries hard, he does have a big weight to carry. Wildcat Keyboogie is improving all the time Sunday Falls is consistent.

RACE 8 :

1ST FOUR SELECTIONS :

7 / 8 / 9 / 6

CANDICE BASS-ROBINSON - Number 8 - FABIAN : He has lots of speed and has does well over the sprints. He must still prove himself over the 1400m, but if he sees it out here, he can be competitive.

VAUGHAN MARSHALL - Number 9 - DEEPSTON : He is temperamental, but has lots of talent and will run well.

GAVIN SMITH - Numbers 1 and 5 - THE HIGHWAY MAN & MASTERFUL : The Highway Man tries hard, he is having his first run back after an injury in his last. Masterful won a gutsy last, he bumps a strong field here.

ALAN GREEFF - Numbers 3 and 4 - LANDELA & FALCON ROCK : Landela has done well against older and has her first start locally in her own age group, she can run in the money. Hoping Falcon Rock can also earn, he ran a nice last race but does take on stronger.

RACE 9 :

1ST FOUR SELECTIONS :

4 / 7 / 10 / 1

ALAN GREEFF - Numbers 1 and 4 - AMAJORY & QUAKESHAKE : Amajory has a place chance, though may prefer Poly. Quakeshake won her last well and can be right there again.

GRANT PADDOCK - Number 7 - DINNER DATE : Hoping for the same kind of run as her last where she ran a good second.

GAVIN SMITH - Numbers 8, 10, 11 and 14 - JUST CALL ME ANGEL, LALENA, TOUCH OF GREEN & ASHDOWN : Just call me Angel has ability, she enjoys the turf track and has a quartet chance. Lalena will enjoy the extra. Touch of Green can be thereabouts. Hoping for improvement from Ashdown.

SHARON KOTZEN - Numbers 2, 3, 12 and 13 - ROMANTIC CRUSADE, BEAUTIFUL BEAT, TORTOLA & AIM FOR THE STARS : Romantic Crusade has had a little break, if she doesn’t need it she can be there. Beautiful Beat ran a cracker in the feature last time out running against some good horses. The 1400m is a touch short but she is fit and well and another good run is expected. Tortola has managed a good run over course and distance, she has a light weight and a good draw and a nice run is expected. Aim for the Stars is back to the 1400m, she does find the mile and upwards too far. We are hoping for improvement.

TARA LAING - Number 5 - ELEGANT EVA : She won her maidens easily but does take on stronger.

DUNCAN MCKENZIE - Number 6 - KEEPING SECRETS : She tries the 1400m and if she sees the extra furlong out can run well.

ELLE EST NOIRE but for soundness issues I would make her a banker - last win over CD was only .11 sec slower than class record for this graduation plate - that day she had Carlita behind her - I will have to take it on trust that she is over her leg problems - Both wins with Heewitson -around 7-1 friendless
I think Sir Frenchie will go very close as will trip to the sky(danger Fabian) as will Romantic Crusade -
