UK and Ireland - Irish Derby Saturday
6 years 11 months ago
Full days racing in the British Isles
From my side Richard Fahey had the following to say about his horse in the 15.50 at Newcastle
‘We run three in the ADT Workplace EBF Novice Stakes and I’ll be surprised and disappointed if Ventura Ocean doesn’t win it. He ran an absolute blinder on debut at York and it will take a good one to beat him here.’
Price is rapidly eroding from evens but seems a penalty kick based on that
Regarding the Irish Derby I am firmly in the camp of Saxon Warrior. I fancied him strongly before the Epsom Derby and I can forgive a young horse not running to form over the undulations and turns of Epsom. He was clearly unbalanced and bumped about that day. The Curragh is a wide, sweeping galloping course that is very fair. So he should have no problems running there
That said, I don’t believe that the price is fair. He really should be odds against. I would really value Dave Scott’s thoughts as to why he is so bullish about Saxon Warrior at odds on this time around

Hi Bokked must say fancied it before i knew it was odds on and was looking out to where it would be placed next? Aidan was fairly sure the Irish Derby was the mission and i fully expect the Real Warrior will pitch up?
There is no point of the St Leger but today might answer the question if the horse is as good as they thought before the Derby and if the ARC could be a reality
Good punting

Never had a hope being held up like that, Bob. Just don't know what some of the jockeys in that race were thinking.

Still don't think Saxon Warrior truly stays a mile and a half.

Could it be that this year's crop of 3 year olds is moderate.
Masar had been beaten on a couple of occasions before he won the Derby.
Everything seems to be winning then losing.
