Pooor poor field.

7 are technically sub 100 horses.

2 three year olds off 108 technically 99s

so half the field sun 100 standard.

Dark Moon rising a shocking inclusion

For me, Dark Moon Rising is a bit of surprise but he will be only 1.5 kgs 'out' - compared to a horse like Yakeen, who will be 2.5 kgs out (and at the weights has a tough task to finish in front of Tilbury Fort); the real shocker for me is Rocket Countdown - can't see how he got in - and will be 3 kgs 'out'

Pack Leader - imo should have made the field before DMR - suffered as a result of a below-par run in the Daily News - but did beat DMR in the Sledgehammer - that being said both were beaten by Head Honcho - who was soundly beaten by Crowd Pleaser in the Cup Trial - so on that Crowd Pleaser unlucky not to get in

Maybe Fred felt he already has the July winner why not try and win the Gold Vase as well. ;)

Secret Potion paying R3.2 a place for 6 horses and R6.4 for 4 places, definitely having a punt on this.

Being a Derby distance winner already this 2200m will suite this horse down to the ground.

I never ever discount Woodruff on these big days
