Does a Horses name really matter?
7 years 2 months ago
Some say that you cannot change a named horse's name to something you like as its bad luck. Others say no, change all you want it makes no difference. Im not sure but i think that if a gun was put to my head then i would say the name does not matter much. What matters though is what that horse does on the racecourse but most importantly what it does off the race course.
I am 48 years old and i can honestly say that there are only a handful of times that i have wanted to be younger , i have not many things i would like to do, nor many things missing on my bucket list.
Yet yesterday i found myself in absolute euphoria and wishing i was 15 years younger. At approximately 16h20 UK time i was literally jumping for joy. Something remarkable had once again happened. Something that money can't buy and many have said is better than sex and other measures.
What happened was 3 good friend watched their horse win a race. 3 kids that know each other for ages and took a punt in our sport. 3 Lighties of which 2 have been in the game since conception, and have known each other for ages. They took a chance and their horse delivered. They put back into the game they invested.
When the horse crossed the line they went mental (again) and there are for sure more mental scenes in the future. They showed us they were on cloud 99 and it was awesome. They showed us what racing is all about. Its not only the "toppies" that love it or indeed use the game to wash money. These kids showed us pure unconditional love for our sport and for that i wish i was 15 years younger to see them enjoy the ride for a long time.
So does a horses name really matter YOU bet it does because Taking The Peace could not have been better named.
