Jooste reported to HAWKS

Steinhoff's new chair Heather Sonn has said that Steinhoff has reported its former CEO Markus Jooste to the Hawks.

Jooste abruptly stepped down as the conglomerate's CEO in early December 2017 amid an accounting scandal.

He has not since spoken to the media.

Sonn said that Jooste had been reported to the Hawks on suspicion that he had committed offenses under the Prevention and Combating of Corrupt Activities Act.

"The matter is now in the hands of the Hawks for further investigation and prosecution," she told Parliament on Tuesday. She did not provide more information.

I find it amazing that Jooste is a common denominator in all the three South African JSE listed companies which financial statements have been scrutinised by Viceroy and then to see the share values plunge or decimated.
