So every so often we have punters trainers etc unsure why a horse has been dropped/raised - Now surely the Handicappers have a digital record of how they rate each race - Would it be so difficult to post the race by race ratings on the NHRA site just like Stipes reports are published - would this not be an invaluable guide to the industry? Why the secrecy- I think it would help many punters understand why horses are going up or down and help them to understand handicapping and to read races better

actually it should be an absolute right at least for the owner of the horse to know exactly why his horse has been adjusted without having to call in to get an explanation from them...

The solution is dead simple - publish the line horse utilised. You have to ask why this is not done as a matter of course.

That is not enough - they have done the work already so why not publish how they came to the ratings - Education of punters is key - I honestly believe that on any given day in my local tote there may be 1 or 2 people that even know what a line horse is and 98% of the guys there have zero idea what MR is about - the rating system controls racing so why is the information protected?

Example race 6 at greyville this evening.
No 11 A greater power dropped 6 points (3KG) for running 2nd to Haddington last time!!
His profile is similar to another 4yo in the race no.8 Caddy master but he now gets 2.5 KG because of the drop. What makes it worse is Caddy Master never got a single point drop for his last 2 runs.Surely its time to bring the handicappers to task over these discrepancies.

MR G a greater power is actually a 64 but because official weights were out for this meeting before his last run he runs off the 55 because he didnt win but placed ...theoretically he is 9 pounds well in..take poison no presenter unless reading abc will pick this up

ratings are a judgment of ability - Imagine if in a court case the judge just said 10 years guilty - no reason or explanation for his decision - if you give reasons they can be understood accepted or challenged and the public learn now the "law" is applied - I am not out for handicapper bashing but I do think freedom and promotion of information can only make for more educated punters

greater power last week should have run off a 55 but because the official weights were out he ran off a 61 however this week he benefits running off a 55 whereby he is an official 64
