Lessons from yesterday for the Met:
1. Copper Force came from last in the QP, had to switch out from rail around three tiring runners, and then switched in again, finishing best of all down the rail. With a clear run probably wins, which would have been the mother of all upsets! Ran 17lb above previous best form. Was this a flash in the pan? If not, he has to be respected in the Met. I’ve had a little saver on him today at 28/1, and have added him to my short list.
2. Marinaresco prep appears to be spot on, and he is the one to beat. I’m glad that I took a few doubles onto him at 9/1 over the past few weeks.
3. Captain America and Sail South ran their usual game races. While I don’t see either of them winning over 2000m, they are worthy runners and must go into the quartet.
4. With the exception of Legal Eagle, the Met will be an all Cape Town affair.
5. Snowdance will be odds on to win the Majorca after the Paddock Stakes result.
6. Can’t see any fillies or mares that have a hope in the Met this year.
New short list
Marinaresco
Legal Eagle
Copper Force
Captain America
Last Winter
Gold Standard

I CANT have the older horses and i hope that trainers supplement their 3yos into the met ...less than 1 length covered the first 5 in the queens plate and if tap o north or snaiths 3yo filly ran they would have run 1st and 2nd imo...the race needs the 3yos and hopefully mdk winner from today otherwise its a boring race imo..legal won his previous 2 queens plates in a common canter but battled this year against the same bunch and i wasnt mad how he and gold standard went to post ...bring on tap o north and snaiths fillies

I thought we saw some really top horses run over the week end.

Legal Eagle i thought showed real class to get to CA. 1600 may be getting abit sharp for LE.
The Paul Peters horse is very exciting prospect.
Cascapedia keeps winning so lets see where she goes. nice to abashiri run 2nd.
dromedaris looks to be a top stayer
Nother Russia over 2000 meters will be a better horse.
Bass yards three ozzie winners all worth following
Oh suzanna also top class

surprised azzie scratched Abashiri from the Met.

Imo it is easy to get a bit carried away after a weekend of very good racing ..... of course the 3yr olds laid down the gauntlet in no uncertain terms and IF any of them ends up running certainly likely that we will have a 3yr old winning .... so let's see which of them gets supplemented today ...

The result of the Queens Plate imo would not necessarily be carried into the Met - as this was run at a cracking pace (to the naked eye at least) while the Met usually is not run at such breakneck speed .... so imo it does not automatically follow that runners like for example Marinaresco will definitely finish in front of the others in the Met, just because the race is 400m further .... would be interesting if the Bass-R stable supplements a pace setter ....

So I am not changing my original short list at this stage .... but might well do so after the supplementary entries at 11 am this morning .....

I do hope that Cascapedia is supplemented. And if she is supplemented would she be guaranteed of a run?

African Night Sky followed Leagle Eagle for most of the race and finished less than 3 lgths behind the winner.
ANS ran at level weights and over a dist short of his best and the horse was not knocked about once the field caught up.
At 8-9/1 looks an interesting bet as he is obviously being laid out for the Met.
