Just a question - since it's so common these days to blame the vet.
Don't large professional stables have control measures in place when it comes to administering medication to horses?
Surely it is obligatory that veterinarians are not given free unfettered access to the stables and free reign to administer medication and substances at will to horses. What prevents a vet from shooting up saturday's runner and having a large punt. or submitting fictitious bills for medication never administered.
Is it not accepted practice that veterinarians treat and administer medication solely in consultation with and under the oversight of the duly authorized person in charge of the stables - ultimately the trainer.
If this is not properly managed at any facility - should the lack of oversight not be a punishable offense - and the responsible person directly held accountable.
