Broodmare sire - Champion of Champions

Have mentioned this before but will do so again. Know Gary love readin my posts.

First Northern Guest 15 Million Stakes earned
Second Elliodor 8 Million Stakes earned

To me the outstanding achievement of the season.

Along with Jay Peg and JJ the Jet Plane.

Northern Guest - 1955 runs, R7453 per start
Elliodor - 1218 runs, R6484 per start
Model Man - 981 runs, R7125 per start
Al Mufti - 827 runs, R8357 per start
Foveros - 594 runs, R10422 per start

Those are the top 5 on stakes earned, clearly dominated by number of runs. One could argue that the better sires get used more, have more foals, earn more money and therefore deserve their place at the top.

Foveros is possibly the real star in that list. He was champion sire 8 times and continues to prove his quality as a broodmare sire. I believe you have to go back to Polystome in the 1920/30's to find a sire with more titles.
