Racing Fans Unite

Most of us have a number of very legitimate gripes, be it service/odds related or new ideas/solutions being shunned or owners not seeing market related stakes increases.
Depending on the skills set we have available in our group we should really consider doing something positive for racing on our own.
We can get a new platform and racing game going which will make our own punting much more enjoyable, increase the new customer base for all of racing and provide an exciting and more social alternative to normal tote betting.
We would need to partner up with an operator with an existing licence and put a profit share agreement in place. A large portion could be returned to racing as supplementary stakes for lower division races to make ownership more affordable for the smaller guy and syndicates.
Look forward to your comments.

I have always thought the concept of an exchange is the way to go.

For this venture to become a reality we need a few things.
1. A game that will appeal to both experienced players and newcomers (I have one hybrid pari-mutuel game already built and a social concept that's ready to be built)
2. A recognised/approved platform which I already have access to (currently powering TopBetta's Global Tote), would be compatible for integration into an existing platform or stand alone
3. IP Protection, have lodged patent applications in SA, USA, UK and Aus
4. Betting licence which is an expensive necessity which is why partnering up with an operator with an existing licence makes a lot of sense. (Will be beneficial to both parties but need to find out what different licences allow in terms of pool betting, contests etc)
This information would be essential to formulate a launch strategy
5. Funding is a potential hurdle but depending on how we do it could either be a significant amount or quite affordable
The more we do on our own the better the profit potential but as the idea is to do this for racing and punters I would be happy to consider a junior partnership with a recognised operator as the senior partner to get things moving along.

From the overwhelming response it appears that the majority must be closet supporters of the current state of affairs.
No worries, no harm done and I suppose we all have different things we are passionate about.
Good punting and wishing you well with changing your lot with bookmakers and the tote alike, perhaps things will change for the better some time.

I think that the reason you did not get much back for the posters is that most are so disillusioned with horse racing in SA that they have all but given up on it changing for the better.

Thanks CNC. I think it's the word funding that scares everyone shitless.
In this economy even the operators shy away from this.
