The winning horses' trainer had a 100/1 winner earlier in the week at Ascot and today this one won at 33/1 and he also had a big outsider winner at Newmarket..alll over the sprint distance.

Great run, War Artist!
I don't know if I missed it, but Shaheen didn't seem to realise that this is the same horse that won the Mercury Sprint. At least, I didn't hear him mention the South African connection.
He may not be South African bred, but this run, along with that of National Colour, gives some indication of where our sprinters stand internationally.

There is definitely a dearth in the English sprinting ranks, and the runs of War Artist and National Colour show that our horses can definitely be competitive in England, especially in the sprint races.I think our failure to have an SA winner there is not far off now. It's a bit tougher in races over ground,as our horses are not used to the undulating tracks that are encountered in England, but I predict that within the next few seasons we will have many reps and winners in England.
