Race 7 - Ngaga 4/1
I have been looking forward to see her again in 2017 and she makes her reappearance on Sunday. I was pleasantly surprised to see her at a opening call of 4/1 - was really expecting around 2/1. She really caught my eye with her first win around the turn and went straight into the notebook. She oozed class there and whilst beating little of note(Party Crasher is a fair sort), I think she had lots left in the tank.
Straight after that run, Nel wanted to run her in the Cape Derby which I think shows what they think of her. Unfortunately she injured herself sometime in Jan so that's the reason for the prolonged layoff. Hopefully she's recovered from that and fit enough to take part here - IMO a fully fit Ngaga wins this - guessing as to her well-being but 4/1 is too juicy to ignore. Good draw, GvN and Nel been in hot form and she should go very close if all's well.
I think Whose That Girl's the only danger and I'll throw a saver also @ 4/1

Have a look at the 1st race, Ben Hur, and 3rd, Off Broadway double.
Both horses were very green in their previous starts. Should both get away on terms, they will take a power of beating.
Ben Hur was slow away and always last, then took off inside the final 180m to flash up for 3rd.
Off Broadway was even slower away in his race, must have been about 5 lengths behind the second last horse going through the 600m over the 1200m. The extra furlong should not be a problem.
Race 4, not a strong fancy, however, I think Bridal Party from a good draw is a runner here. She raced fairly handy from a somewhat wide draw last time out, tomorrow from gate 2 she might not be stopping.
Race 6, the betting is an indication of how open the race is. In terms of the race conditions, Whose That Girl must be a runner. She was far from disgraced when running in the CTS Mile against the colts, and she has competed against top, top fillies. Back against her own age group, she should go very close here.
I see there has been some support for the 1st and 3rd race fancies.

Guessing has never been widely acclaimed as a good gambling strategy.

Early thoughts
Race 1: Ben - Hur put up a good debut and should enjoy the trip. He should win this but a skinny price. All of 3,4,5,6,8,10 could improve to challenge.
Race 2: Another odds-on shot Rings and Things has the form but again price looks skinny. Hopeful and Seattle Sound are the main dangers.
Race 3: Off Broadway failed narrowly last time and is the one to beat but again no value at the opening price. Manhattan Ice and Perfect Choice won't be far off.
Race 4: Lady Li Lay was very green on debut and could upstage stable companion Riverboat Queen. Dark Sienna has good recent form and would be no surprise.
Race 5: Van Reenen has a strong hand and there is little between his 3 runners. Woodlands Forest looks good ew value at 10/1. Mangrove was not disgraced in feature company last time and is a big runner if seeing out the trip. Sister Soozie is another to be considered.
Race 6: A very tricky race. Love to Boogie is unbeaten from 2 starts and could be anything, and is a tentative selection but I would like to see her on course before committing. Twinkletoes has good sprint form. China Pearl reverts to sprinting and should be respected. Supercilious has good form but the Ramsden yard has scratched many horses recently. Miss Marker may prefer further.
Race 7: Ngaga returns from a break, and meets stronger but must be respected. Whose that Girl won a good race last time and could follow up. Extradite ran well from a bad draw last time and should get closer this time.
We have Sylvanite running- she ran a great race from a wide draw last time and is a big runner here.
White Rose is a progressive filly, but is thrown in the deep end here.
Race 8: African Night Sky won a nice race last time and Our Mate Art is again his main danger. Elevated has disappointed his last few, but is capable of causing an upset.
Race 9: Pack a Punch should relish the step up in trip and is the one to beat in an open race. Come on Sonny is the main danger.

Lots of short prices on the card.
Race 2 - Rings and Things hasn't looked entirely settled when cornering and will benefit from the 1 draw and short run in on the winter course.
Race 8 - African Night Sky and Our Mate Art renew rivalry. OMA went forward from a wide draw and sat outside the leader before keeping on whereas ANS had cover. The pace could be a factor as well in this small field. ANS wasn't stopping at the finish and is bred for the distance and probably further so I'll be going for ANS.

The Nel/van Niekerk combo can have at least 4 winners today, maybe even 5. Taken an atc , trebles and doubles on all of their rides, small stake
