Kenilworth 26/04

As promised I can report as follows on Zanadu's chances in the Kenilworth Maiden 1600 @ 14:55 tomorrow :
Let me start off by commenting on her first run :
1.) It was way too short for a horse bred to get up to 2 miles.
2.) Her introduction to racing was somewhat marred by being selected for a random blood test on course BEFORE she raced. (How the authorities believe that extracting 80ml of blood from a disoriented first timer is conducive to her performance is something that someone with more experience needs to explain to me....)
3.) Despite the above we were quite happy to have her run & she took her race well; finishing 11 lengths behind the surprise winner.
Note the following with regard to her run tomorrow:
1.) She races in a half set of alumites.
2.) It is her first venture around the turn & her trainer still expects her to be very green.
3.) Her trainer hopes she might be competitive at her next outing
4.) I would caution punters to be aware that she may run better than expected simply because she goes 600m further and also has the services of a top senior jockey.
5.) Her draw may not favour her as she might be a hesitant out of the gate.
I would be happy if she could get to within 5-8 lengths of the winner & be running on.
Best wishes with your plays tomorrow.

Crawford's comments:
Supreme Orator – doing very well @ home, will put in a strong effort
Capaill – makes debut and will need the experience
Thermocline – ready to get racing career started but will also need this first outing
Love Dove – drilling nicely on the sand, but has not been on grass and should need the outing
Our Lady Peace – needs to improve to be truly competitive in Cape Town, and poor draw makes it harder
Amarillo Rose – done treatment on back so hope she jumps properly this time, capable and in good form @ home
Stopthinkingofme – not shaped over further, now comes back to this stiff 1200m which suits her best
Seattle Silva – throwing a winter coat, but work is good and should go decently
PA: 7,11,13 x 1,6 x 2,3,4 x 2,3,5 x 7,8,9 x 1,7 x 2,

Taken a chance with the double Second Nature X Red Granite
Guessing has never been widely acclaimed as a good gambling strategy.
