Gold Challenge Day
17 years 2 days ago
What a day it was and I must say that I learnt a lot today:
1. These animals are magnificient. At some points of the day I was close enough to walk up and touch one of them.
2. TV makes people look taller than they are (excluding the Jockeys of course)
3. Horseracing is still the sport of Kings
4. A win at Dubai or a win at Clairwood generates the same amount of excitement for the owners. Its not only about the money but also about the joy of winning.
5. There are still no racing certanties
6. We really need to get people back to the tracks. Clairwood is a great course but the turnout at a big event like this was a little dissapointing. I would loved to have seen the stands full on a day like today.
7. The spectators did not show their aprreciation by applauding the Horses and Jockeys when entering the winners circle after a run. Crazy that they dont if you consider what it takes to be a top Trainer, Horse or Jockey. Whats even crazier is that you will hear someone in a tote one day telling a story of how great PP was but this same person never bothered to take a trip to the course to see him in the flesh.
To all the traibners horses and Jockeys I applaud you. Thank you for a wonderful days entertainment.

It big pity. It looks like your Cape pick 6 may be in danger with the weather you are having down there.
Lets hope that they finish the days racing but not looking so good.
