stakes money for chapter challenge races versus group races

could somebody please explain to me how in living hell can the 6 chapter challenge races that are run yearly in natal carry the SAME AND SOMETIMES MORE PRIZE MONEY THAN GROUP 2 AND 3 RACES..these races are often won by horses that have merit ratings OF 75...

I think you know the answer to that one, my friend.
However, it would be highly hypocritical of me to say anything at this juncture seeing as Hollywood has a runner in one of the Chapter Series races on Saturday and would of course be extremely delighted to pocket the fat winner's cheque!

No. I think Extinct will be hard to beat on his last run in a plate race. Was weighted to finish last, but doddled in and could only be raised six pounds in the merit ratings, so in theory he looks very well handicapped.
We can only hope for the best, but realistically a place is probably the most our horse can manage.
