There is no better example than he to prove the idiocy of owning a horse. With all due respect to all owners, you are keeping horses to inflate your egos, to have your name in the race card. I love the argument that owners "love" their horses when the majority never go and visit them at stables and the vast majority would not be able to ride them. Whats to love, feeding carrots?

i agree with your sentiments, for the love of the game and your horses are extremely
important, taking the good with the bad but also making decisions in terms
of purchasing wisely, something i dont think Mr van vuuren did, i think Mr Van Niekerk, owner for the tarry stable has a excellent conditioner for his horses who surely knows what he is doing and a jockey who rides the opposition to sleep, therefore his longivity in this game, follow.

to have paid 5-10 million for Oomph in my opinion is crazy . Sure , the horse won three races on the trot but that was in PE where they don't have the strongest opposition . Whoever advised them on that purchase must be seriously embarrassed

If their were no owners regardless of their reasons for owning where would racing be..
the bottom line is they are as are most owners who pay great for the game and don't need permission to pay top dollar for what they want.. history will record the triple crown owners as being the Van Vuuren's.

Len I have not frequented a racecourse for 20 years and have no regrets. I love the gambling horses are just needed for the addiction. I would prefer no local racing tbh I find UK racing more consistent in terms of results.

Re: Hearing there is a big Dispersal sale soon
8 years 7 months agoOTA the comment was not directed to u only owners are needed like the Van Vuurens as they keep the wheels of racing turning along with the punters who have a bet everyday...the results in the UK as opposed to S A I don't know but believe they require owners to keep the wheels turning as much as we do.Over the Air wrote:Len Sham wrote: If their were no owners regardless of their reasons for owning where would racing be..the bottom line is they are as are most owners who pay great for the game and don't need permission to pay top dollar for what they want.. history will record the triple crown owners as being the Van Vuuren's.

No problem Len I didnt see your post as an attack. My point is that the vast majority of punters do not attend a live meeting so as such it makes no difference to them if the race is local or not.
