DURBANVILLE, 02/10

I fancy the chances of Evoke Emotion (9/2) in the 4th. Has performed okay against stronger company, the drop in class should see her be competitive, especially if getting away on terms. Think she's the one they all have to beat.
Guessing has never been widely acclaimed as a good gambling strategy.

Another one of my horses to follow for the season is out tomorrow and that's Table Bay. Having backed Our Mate Art in the Langerman, I was already counting my money heading into the last 50m or so when Table Bay's exceedingly long neck reached out and pipped OMA  This is a quality horse and he'll too will be in the Guineas in December.

He carries a heavy weight here for a 3yo but has the class to bear the burden. Looked like he needed every inch of the 1500 last time but racing fresh, 1400 might be suitable. I would urge caution as to having a nice bet tomorrow as he has much bigger fish to fry but make no mistake, he can certainly win - following with interest.

Smallish bet on at 18/10

Race1: Miss Malbec has proved costly to follow, but will be hard to beat from a good draw. The two older fillies are well tried, and should be thereabouts. A couple of others that can come on from fair debuts include Glennie and No Doubt. We have Chit Chat running- she has had a few niggles since her run back in February, but is now working ok. Has a horrible draw, and will need this run, so an outside place chance at best.
Race2: Red Light Girl and Silver Captain get 3 kg from the two time winners and thus should fight out a very competitive race.
Race 3: William the Brave went close last time and should enjoy the longer trip, and is the obvious selection. Cardiff Castle showed remarkable improvement last start, and is in with a shout if confirming that form. Soaring Past stays all day.Red Ginger appears to be the best of the older horses. We have Desert Wisdom running- he is progressing nicely, and if overcoming the draw and if he sees out the trip has an ew chance.

Race 4: Very tricky. I will go with the improving younger fillies, Baroness Mary, Fort Ruby and Rustar Dhow.
Race 5: Nother open contest. Harakiri, Royal Chian an Corker are my shortlist. Bombshell Girl doesn't seem to like Durbanville.
Race 6: It doesn't get any easier here. Soweto Moon has never reproduced his sparkling first run, but if he can bounce back to best is the right one. Elusive Pat and Summer Sky look useful. Caballo Blanco has good form but a tough draw.
Race 7: Lord Marshall is weighted to win this at best. The smart 3yos Table Bay and Le Harve must be respected.
Race 8: Brett Crawford has a very strong hand. Colonel Bluff may edge out Sunset Eyes. Birds Eye View has good form. Stellarstone is coming along he right way and has. Place chance.

Race by race thoughts :-

R1) Miss Malbec should win this, Helen's Bay to chase her home.

R2) Red Light Girl the one to beat, Captain Gambler to follow her home.

R3) Open race, William The Brave my marginal choice, Soaring Past can make her presence felt from a good draw.

R4) Evoke Emotion the one they all have to beat, anything to run second.

R5) Fancy Royal Chian to upstage Harakiri.

R6) Elusive Path to give the favourite Caballo Blanco a good go.

R7) Table Bay despite the weight, Le Harve to follow him home.

R8) No selection, go and collect your winnings before your outlet closes.
Guessing has never been widely acclaimed as a good gambling strategy.

It would be nice if just once she is ridden properly/instructions so we can see her potential and distance she is needing. She is still maturing and is well. Here's hoping for a fair run.

Excited to see Silver Captain today. Heard there is a lot of talk about her and we had Cavalleria run about 2 lengths back of her in a 1200 about 4 months ago and we were quite pleased considering Cavalleria was a bit more backward and a horse we think can compete in some big classic races in her career.
