Is it because a funcied runner won the race ?

Bob in my eyes there's a big difference between the incidents. Penny did what so many jocks do when they have the race locked up - stopped riding. If that's a punishable offence then even winning jockeys should be pulled up for it - irrespective of the result. If not and misjudgments happen - even this one which I don't think changed the result - then they are just gambling that they get up.

Bling completely pawned it on Captain Corteous. He was playing silly buggers and showing off 100m from the finish not 10m from the line. It also looked suspiciously like he pulled the horse up as opposed to simply dropped his hands.

I don't know Penny's record, but Bling has priors so i find it quite interesting he got 45 v 60 days for a very different incident in my eyes.

As with all disciplinary hearings there's legalese that comes into it, but I don't think the incidents were the same at all. I also don't think either was malicious, just the one was switching off and the other was show boating.

Bob, Bling is a 2 times S.A. champion jockey.....as opposed to Penny who with respect is an ordinary jock.. I don't think u expect this type of ride from your champion jocks, as opposed to your ordinary jock.

Plus Bling gets about 10 x the number of rides Penny gets , so his experience to that of Penny is not comparable.

Bling's record in these types of offences is pretty bad ..i doubt Penny has ever had this problem before so to get only 15 days less is harsh and should be challenged... also this , though unprofessional, was a genuine mistake as the winner came flying up the outside rail and Penny was more interested in beating the horses around him.... I thought the 2 months bling got was too lenient but this is too severe. One good thing is that the stipes completed this inquiry quickly and the actions they are taking in this regard is very good for Racing.

Agree 100% ...........cannot understand why there should be different rules for different jocks except that a greater penalty for follow up offences, does makes sense.

Bob, I for one have just become tired of pointing out the bleeding obvious when people are paid a salary in management positions in racing and NOTHING happens. This site is read and critisized but then changes are made.

How is it that shit like this happens daily and nobody in any structure being paid a salary does nothing??? There simply needs to be a shake up in all the bodies that play an official role in this industry. All CEO's and senior management should be put on notice immediately.

It is a joke that people have varying emotional opinions based on who the jockey is and what they believe happened, just more subjective shit because there is little consistent action on a daily basis which is clear and consistent.

1. Any jockey not riding their mount to the line even if 10 lengths clear should be an immediate 60 day suspension.
2. Any jockey not riding their mount out in the last 200m of a race gets 90 day suspension.
3. Any jockey not riding their mount out in the last 100m that is beaten gets 6 months.

I then ask myself, have the people who are being paid to do this job simply not thought of making these changes or do they believe that they only need to be reactive when something extreme happens?

More sad than this is that the public have to challenge these issues daily. Where are the voices of the operators CEO's or the RA on behalf of their customers and members???

This is a hobby for me not my business however if it was my business and I took over tomorrow there would many heads that rolled just based on the failure to follow or update standard operating procedures and communicate to the customers. Punters, owners, trainers and breeders should be treated with a lot more value.

Please don't talk nonsense.

At no point did Greg Cheyne stop riding to the line.

The fact that a 3 yr old little girl would be stronger than him in a finish is immaterial.
